Evolution Green Aversa produced a controlled 3-0 home victory over Macerata in Serie A2 on October 18, 2026, winning 25-19, 25-21, 25-18. The hosts were sharper in every phase and never allowed Macerata to settle into a consistent attacking rhythm.

Match overview

Aversa opened with a clear tactical plan: aggressive serving, disciplined block placement, and quick transitions through the middle. The first set reflected that approach, with the hosts building an early lead and closing it out 25-19. Macerata improved in the second set and stayed close through the middle stages, but Aversa’s side-out efficiency kept them at arm’s length before a 25-21 finish.

The third set was Aversa’s most complete. Their block shut down Macerata’s preferred angles, and the serving game produced a series of free-ball opportunities. Aversa moved ahead early and did not let the visitors back into the set, sealing the sweep at 25-18.

Key moments

The decisive run came in the latter half of the second set. With Aversa leading 17-16, a block followed by two strong serves created a four-point cushion. Macerata never recovered fully, and Aversa carried that momentum into the third set. In the final set, a 6-1 run midway through turned a narrow lead into a commanding advantage.

• First set: Aversa’s early serving pressure secured a 25-19 win.
• Second set: The hosts held off Macerata’s challenge 25-21.
• Third set: Aversa dominated at the net to close it 25-18.

Tactical story

Aversa’s block-defense system worked well throughout. Their serve targeted Macerata’s passing seams, reducing the visitors’ ability to use the middle. That allowed Aversa’s blockers to commit earlier to the pins and forced Macerata into more contested swings. On offense, Aversa mixed power with placement, keeping the opposing block off balance.

Macerata had brief moments of quality in the second set, especially when their outside hitters found rhythm in transition. But they struggled to string points together, and their serving lacked the same pressure Aversa generated. The visitors also gave away too many easy points at critical moments.

Standout players

Luca Ricci led the Aversa attack with a strong all-round display, scoring from the right side and contributing important blocks. Marco De Luca controlled the middle effectively, while Alessandro Ferrara’s serving run in the second set helped create the separation Aversa needed. The setter’s distribution kept all attacking options involved.

Matteo Bianchi was Macerata’s most consistent performer, finding ways to score even when the offense became predictable. But the visitors needed more support around him to challenge Aversa’s defensive structure.

Season impact

The straight-set win is a strong statement for Evolution Green Aversa in Serie A2, adding three points and boosting confidence at home. Macerata will need to improve their passing consistency and transition play after a match in which they were often forced into low-percentage attacks. Aversa’s ability to maintain pressure across all three sets was the standout feature of the performance.
