Zeleznicar Women booked their place in the next round of the Serbia Cup Women with a solid 3-0 victory over Sremska M. Women on 14 October 2026, winning 25-20, 25-16, 25-18. The home side controlled the match from the middle of the first set onwards, showcasing a balanced attack and a resilient defence.

Zeleznicar entered the cup tie as favourites and lived up to that billing, though Sremska M. Women made them work for it in the opening set before the hosts pulled clear.

Match Overview

The first set was the most competitive of the night. Sremska M. Women came out with energy and matched Zeleznicar point for point until 14-14. But Zeleznicar's experience and superior firepower began to tell. A series of powerful serves from their captain forced Sremska into a string of poor receptions, and Zeleznicar capitalised with quick transition kills. They closed the set 25-20.

In the second set, Zeleznicar found their rhythm early. Their setter exploited Sremska's slow block movement with well-timed quick attacks and back-row pipes. The visitors had no answer, and Zeleznicar cruised to a 25-16 win. Sremska's coach used both timeouts in an attempt to stem the tide, but the home team's momentum was unstoppable.

The third set saw Sremska rally briefly, taking a 7-5 lead behind a pair of blocks. Zeleznicar responded calmly, leveling at 10-10 and then pulling away with a six-point run. Sremska never recovered, and a final kill from the right side ended the match 25-18.

Key Moments

• First set, 14-14: Zeleznicar's captain delivered three consecutive aggressive serves, breaking the set open.
• Second set, 12-7: A dominant stretch of blocking and transition play put Zeleznicar firmly in control.
• Third set, 10-10: A six-point surge, featuring two aces and a block, ended Sremska's resistance.

Tactical Story

Zeleznicar's victory was built on their serving and net play. They recorded nine aces and eight blocks, consistently putting Sremska's attackers under pressure. Their defensive system was well-organised, with the libero directing the backcourt and the wing defenders reading Sremska's favourite attacking angles.

Sremska M. Women showed flashes of quality, particularly in the first and third sets, but they struggled with consistency. Their passing broke down under pressure, and their setter was often forced to rely on out-of-system plays. Zeleznicar's block took full advantage, shutting down the wings and forcing errors.

Standout Players

Zeleznicar's opposite hitter was the match's top scorer with 16 points, including four aces. She was particularly effective in the second set and proved unstoppable when given a clean swing. The middle blocker added 10 points and four blocks, while the setter controlled the tempo with maturity and precision.

For Sremska M. Women, the outside hitter fought valiantly for 11 points and was her team's most reliable attacking option. The libero also performed well, keeping several difficult balls alive, but the team's overall error count proved too high against a disciplined opponent.

Season Impact

Zeleznicar Women move into the next round of the Serbia Cup Women with confidence and momentum. Their cup run provides an opportunity to rotate the squad and build chemistry as the season progresses. Sremska M. Women exit the competition but can take positives from their fighting spirit, particularly in the opening set.

Zeleznicar's blend of serving power, blocking presence, and attacking depth makes them a dangerous team in the knockout stages. They will be eager to continue their cup journey and challenge for silverware.
