Ub Women produced one of the standout results of the Serbia Cup Women round, sweeping Crvena zvezda Women 3-0 on the road. The away side controlled the match from the opening serve and advanced with a performance built on disciplined serving, strong blocking and calm execution in the tight moments.

Match overview

Crvena zvezda Women hosted the cup tie with hopes of using home-court energy to force a long match, but Ub Women quickly took control of the rhythm. The visitors served aggressively, disrupted Crvena zvezda’s first-ball attack and forced the home side into predictable swings. Ub won the key tactical battle at the net and never allowed Crvena zvezda to build a sustained run.

The 3-0 scoreline reflected Ub’s consistency across all three sets. Crvena zvezda stayed competitive in patches, especially early in the first and third sets, but the visitors had more answers in transition and cleaner execution when the score tightened.

Key moments

The first set set the tone for the night. Crvena zvezda matched Ub point for point through the middle phase, but Ub’s serve pressure created a small separation late in the set and the visitors closed it out with a composed finish. That late surge took momentum away from the home side and forced Crvena zvezda to chase the match from behind.

Ub carried that momentum into the second set, where their block began to dominate the center of the court. Crvena zvezda’s outside hitters were repeatedly met by a well-formed double block, and Ub’s libero kept rallies alive with steady reception and defense. The third set was Crvena zvezda’s best response, but Ub remained patient, sided out efficiently and finished the sweep without allowing a deciding set.

Tactical story

The match was decided by serve-and-pass. Ub Women served with purpose, targeting Crvena zvezda’s reception lines and limiting the home team’s ability to run a fast middle attack. With Crvena zvezda pushed into more predictable high-ball swings, Ub’s block was able to set up early and convert defensive touches into counterattacks.

Crvena zvezda’s best spells came when their serve found the floor and their block slowed Ub’s outside attack. But those moments were too brief. Ub’s distribution stayed balanced, and their transition game was sharper over the full three sets. The visitors also handled the pressure of a cup knockout match well, avoiding the kind of error runs that can let a home crowd back into the contest.

Standout performers

Ub’s opposite hitter delivered important points in each set, especially when Crvena zvezda threatened to extend rallies. The middle blockers set the defensive tone with timely blocks, while the setter kept the offense varied enough to prevent Crvena zvezda from loading up on one attacking lane. For Crvena zvezda, the libero and defensive specialists produced several impressive saves, but the team lacked the consistent terminal hitting needed to swing the match.

What the result means

The 3-0 win sends Ub Women into the next stage of the Serbia Cup Women with confidence and a clean scoreline. For Crvena zvezda Women, the cup exit is a difficult result, but the match offered clear lessons in reception stability and late-set execution. Ub’s ability to close sets under pressure will be a major asset in the next round, where the margin for error will be even smaller.
