Crvena zvezda Women booked their place in the next round of the Serbia Cup Women with a resounding 3-0 victory over ŽOK Spartak Subotica Women on October 14, 2026. The Belgrade side produced a disciplined and powerful display, winning 25-18, 25-16, 25-20 to advance comfortably.

Match Overview

From the first serve, Crvena zvezda imposed their will on the match. Their serve-receive was nearly flawless, allowing their setter to run a varied offence that kept Spartak Subotica’s block guessing all evening. The first set set the tone: after an early 6-6 tie, Crvena zvezda went on a decisive run, pulling away to 18-12 and never relinquishing control. The second set was even more dominant, with the hosts racing to a 12-5 lead and closing it out with ease. The third set saw Spartak Subotica put up more resistance, staying within two points until 15-13, but Crvena zvezda’s superior firepower and blocking eventually told.

Key Moments

The turning point came midway through the second set when Crvena zvezda’s captain delivered a series of powerful jump serves that forced Spartak Subotica into desperate free-ball situations. That sequence turned a 9-6 lead into a 14-6 advantage and effectively ended the set as a contest. In the third set, Spartak Subotica’s coach called a timeout at 15-13 to try to disrupt the rhythm, but Crvena zvezda responded with two consecutive blocks from their middle blocker to restore a comfortable cushion.

Tactical Story

Crvena zvezda’s tactical approach was built on pressure from the service line and a high block. They targeted Spartak Subotica’s left-side hitter, limiting her effectiveness and forcing the visitors to rely on less efficient options. Defensively, Crvena zvezda’s back-row players were excellent, digging numerous powerful attacks and turning defence into counter-attack opportunities. Spartak Subotica struggled to contain Crvena zvezda’s opposite hitter, who consistently found gaps in the block. The visitors also committed too many unforced errors, particularly in the second set, which undermined any chance of building momentum.

Standout Players

Crvena zvezda’s opposite hitter was the star of the show, registering a match-high 19 points, including four aces and two blocks. Their outside hitter added 11 points and was reliable in reception, while the libero produced a series of highlight-reel digs. For Spartak Subotica, the setter tried to vary the attack, but the team’s hitting percentage was kept below 35%. Their best performer was the middle blocker, who managed five points and one block, but it was not enough to stem the tide.

Cup Implications

This victory sends Crvena zvezda Women into the next stage of the Serbia Cup Women with confidence. The cup represents a major opportunity for silverware, and their emphatic performance against a solid Spartak Subotica side signals their intent. For Spartak Subotica, the defeat ends their cup run, and they will now focus on their league campaign. Crvena zvezda will await their next opponent, knowing that a similar level of performance will make them a tough team to beat in any round.

With this win, Crvena zvezda continue to build momentum in both domestic competitions, while Spartak Subotica must regroup quickly ahead of their upcoming league fixtures.
