Sinj Women defended their home court with a confident 3-0 victory over Medvescak Women in the Prva Liga Women. The hosts controlled the match from the opening set, combining efficient serving with a well-organised block. Medvescak fought hard but could not find a way to disrupt Sinj’s rhythm.

Match overview

Sinj Women were the better side in all three sets, though Medvescak made them work at times. The home team’s passing was steady, allowing their setter to run a varied attack. Medvescak, by contrast, struggled to maintain first-ball side-out efficiency and often found themselves defending long rallies.

The straight-sets win was built on consistency. Sinj did not need to produce anything spectacular; they simply executed the fundamentals better. Their serve-receive held up under pressure, and their block gave Medvescak’s attackers little room to operate.

Key moments

The first set was competitive until the midway point. Sinj led 12-10 before a four-point run, sparked by a strong serving sequence and a block, opened up a gap. They closed the set 25-19. The second set followed a similar pattern, with Sinj pulling away late to win 25-21.

Medvescak’s best chance came early in the third set when they led 6-3. Sinj responded immediately with a 7-1 run, turning defence into attack and forcing Medvescak into errors. The hosts never looked back and completed the sweep 25-17.

Tactical story

Sinj’s serving kept Medvescak off balance throughout. They mixed deep serves with short balls to the front zone, making it difficult for Medvescak’s setter to establish a consistent attacking pattern. That allowed Sinj’s block to read and react, often forming double blocks against the wings.

In attack, Sinj showed good balance. The outside hitters were reliable, the middle attack was efficient, and the opposite provided a steady scoring threat. Medvescak tried to change the momentum with aggressive serving, but the errors mounted as the match progressed.

Standout performers

Sinj’s libero was excellent, anchoring the reception and making several important defensive plays. The middle blockers controlled the net and gave Medvescak’s hitters little space. The opposite also delivered in crucial moments, particularly during the decisive runs in the first and third sets.

For Medvescak, the outside hitters worked hard but were often forced into difficult swings. Their block had brief success in the second set, but the team could not sustain the pressure. Better passing and fewer service errors would give their attack more chance to function.

Season impact

The win gives Sinj Women a valuable home result and boosts their standing in the Prva Liga Women. A 3-0 victory is especially useful for set ratio and confidence, and it reinforces their ability to close matches efficiently. The team’s balance will be a key asset in the weeks ahead.

Medvescak Women leave with areas to improve, particularly in reception and side-out consistency. The third-set lead showed they can compete, but they need to handle Sinj’s serving pressure better. A quick response in the next round will be important.
