Sisak delivered a dominant 3-0 home victory over Zadar in Prva Liga on 25 October 2026, winning 25-16, 25-19 and 25-21. The hosts controlled the match from the opening rally, combining strong serving with a disciplined block that kept Zadar under pressure throughout.

Match overview

Sisak began with real authority, racing into an early lead in the first set. Their serve was difficult to handle, and Zadar struggled to establish any rhythm in attack. The hosts closed the opening frame comfortably at 25-16. Zadar improved in the second set, finding more consistency in reception and staying closer through the early exchanges, but Sisak’s block-defence connection helped them pull away to take it 25-19.

The third set was the most competitive. Zadar fought hard and kept the score tight until the later stages, but Sisak’s experience and composure in key rallies made the difference. A late serving run and a couple of crucial blocks sealed the set 25-21 and completed a convincing straight-sets win.

Key moments

• First set: Sisak’s aggressive serving created an early cushion, and the hosts never looked back.
• Second set: A 5-1 run midway through the frame gave Sisak the separation they needed.
• Third set: Zadar stayed close until 18-18, but Sisak won the decisive points with stronger block defence.

Tactical story

Sisak’s serving strategy was central to the win. By mixing pace and placement, they prevented Zadar from running a balanced attack and forced the visitors into more predictable choices. That allowed Sisak’s blockers to read the setter and close the net effectively. In transition, Sisak were also sharper, turning defensive plays into quick points.

Zadar’s best spell came in the third set, when their reception improved and they managed to involve their middle attack more often. However, they could not maintain that level in the closing points. Sisak’s block held firm, and their outside hitters delivered when the rallies extended. The home side’s ability to stay calm at 18-18 was a clear sign of their control.

Standout performers

Sisak captain Mario Šarić led from the front with a strong all-round display, contributing important points in attack and at the net. Middle blocker Ivan Vuković was a constant presence in the block, while setter Tomislav Babić kept the offence balanced and unpredictable. For Zadar, Marko Knežević worked hard to keep his side in the contest, especially during the third-set fightback.

Season impact

The 3-0 win gives Sisak a strong home result and valuable momentum in the Prva Liga standings. Their serving and blocking combination will be a difficult challenge for any opponent this season. Zadar leave with a defeat but can take some encouragement from their third-set resistance. They will need to improve their first contact and reduce errors if they are to challenge the league’s stronger sides consistently.
