Sisak Edge Cazma in Five-Set Prva Liga Thriller

Sisak opened their Prva Liga volleyball campaign with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Cazma on 19 October 2026, producing a five-set match that had momentum swings, long rallies and a tense finish. The home side eventually prevailed after trading sets throughout the evening, securing two valuable points while Cazma took one from a performance that underlined their competitiveness in the division.

The match report will show a contest decided by small margins: Sisak’s ability to reset after losing the second and fourth sets proved decisive, while Cazma’s serve-receive pressure kept the visitors within touching distance until the final points of the tie-break.

Match Overview

Sisak started with purpose in front of their home support, controlling the first set through steady side-out volleyball and a useful block presence at the net. Cazma responded well in the second, tightening their defence and forcing Sisak into longer attacking sequences. The home side regained the initiative in the third, but Cazma refused to fade and took the fourth to send the match into a deciding set.

Key Moments

The turning point came early in the fifth set. Sisak won the first two points on serve and then added a block to move 4-1 ahead, forcing Cazma into a timeout. Although the visitors clawed back to 9-8, Sisak’s opposite hitter delivered two important kills from the right side and a well-placed serve stretched the lead again. At 13-11, a long rally ended with a Cazma attack landing narrowly wide, and Sisak closed out the match on their second match point.

Cazma’s best spell came in the fourth set, when their libero stabilized the back court and their middle blockers began to read Sisak’s setter more effectively. That run gave the away side belief, but Sisak’s experience in the closing stages ultimately made the difference.

Tactical Story

Sisak’s game plan relied on aggressive serving and a disciplined block. When their serve landed deep, Cazma’s first tempo became predictable, allowing Sisak’s middle blockers to close the space at the net. The home team also used their bench effectively, bringing fresh legs into the back row during the fourth set and restoring defensive energy for the tie-break.

Cazma, for their part, were at their best when they kept the ball in play and attacked through the wings. Their transition defence created several counter-attacking opportunities, but they were unable to sustain that level after the fourth-set effort. In a match of fine margins, Sisak’s lower error count in the decisive set proved crucial.

Standout Performers

Sisak’s opposite hitter was the standout attacking force, carrying the team in the closing stages and finishing with a team-high points total. Their captain and libero also produced important defensive plays, particularly in the fifth set. For Cazma, the middle blocker and outside hitter kept the visitors in contention, while the setter distributed well under pressure.

Standings Impact

The result gives Sisak an early boost in the Prva Liga standings and reinforces their home-court strength. Cazma leave with a losing bonus point, which could prove valuable in a tightly packed table. Both teams will take encouragement from the match: Sisak showed they can win tight contests, while Cazma demonstrated they can compete deep into five-set battles.
