Zeljeznicar produced a strong away performance to beat Cazma 3-1 in Prva Liga on 25 October 2026. Cazma took the opening set, but Zeljeznicar responded with three consecutive set wins to secure the points. The final set scores were 22-25, 25-19, 25-21 and 25-18 in favour of the visitors.

Match overview

Cazma started brightly in front of their home support, using a lively attack and some well-timed blocks to take the first set 25-22. The hosts looked confident and kept Zeljeznicar under pressure with a strong serving spell in the middle of the frame. However, the visitors regrouped quickly and changed the momentum in the second set.

Zeljeznicar improved their reception and began to control the tempo, winning the second set 25-19. The third set was closely contested for long periods, but Zeljeznicar’s greater consistency in transition allowed them to pull away late and take it 25-21. Cazma tried to respond in the fourth, but the visitors maintained their advantage and closed the match 25-18.

Key moments

• First set: Cazma’s block and home energy helped them edge a tight opener 25-22.
• Second set: Zeljeznicar’s serving improved significantly, creating a mid-set run that decided the frame.
• Third set: At 19-19, Zeljeznicar won four of the next five rallies to seize control.
• Fourth set: The visitors broke away early and never let Cazma back into the set.

Tactical story

Zeljeznicar’s comeback was built on serve-receive improvement. After struggling to contain Cazma’s early pressure, they found a better rhythm and were able to run their offence through the middle. That forced Cazma’s block to hesitate, creating more space for the outside hitters. Zeljeznicar also tightened their defence, picking up several important balls in transition.

Cazma’s first-set success came from aggressive serving and a strong block, but they could not sustain that level. As the match wore on, their reception became less stable, and Zeljeznicar capitalised with longer scoring runs. The home side fought hard in the third set, but too many unforced errors in the closing points allowed the visitors to pull away.

Standout performers

Zeljeznicar opposite hitter Luka Marić was a constant threat and finished as the match’s leading scorer. Setter Damir Kovačević managed the game well after a shaky start, while middle blocker Stipe Jurić made key contributions at the net. For Cazma, Marko Šimunović impressed in the opening set and remained their most reliable attacking option.

Season impact

The away win is an important result for Zeljeznicar in the Prva Liga standings and demonstrates their ability to recover from a slow start. For Cazma, the defeat is a frustrating one after a promising opening set, but the performance showed they can compete with strong opposition. Both teams will take lessons from the match, with Cazma focusing on sustaining their reception under pressure and Zeljeznicar looking to build on a confident road display.
