Zhetysu Women delivered a confident home performance to sweep Kuanysh Women 3-0 in the National League Women on 27 October 2026. The hosts won 25-19, 25-21, 25-20, combining strong serving with a balanced attack and a block that grew more influential as the match went on. The three points were fully deserved, and the clean sweep gave Zhetysu a valuable boost in the league table.

Match overview

Zhetysu started brightly, using the home court to establish an early lead in the first set. The hosts served aggressively and forced Kuanysh into a series of high-ball attacks, which Zhetysu’s block was able to contain. A mid-set run opened a comfortable advantage, and Zhetysu closed the opening set 25-19.

Kuanysh improved in the second set and stayed close through the early exchanges. The visitors found more joy through their outside hitters and briefly threatened to level the match. Zhetysu, however, responded with a crucial run in the latter half of the set. Better first contact and a few well-timed blocks helped the hosts take it 25-21.

The third set was the most competitive until the closing stages. Kuanysh refused to fade and kept the score tight, but Zhetysu’s serving and transition play proved decisive. The hosts pulled away late to complete the sweep at 25-20.

Key moments

• First set, mid-set: Zhetysu’s serving run broke Kuanysh’s reception and created the first significant gap.
• Second set, 18-17: The hosts won a long rally with a block, sparking a burst that carried them to the set.
• Third set, 20-18: Zhetysu’s late composure and cleaner sideout play closed the door on Kuanysh’s comeback hopes.

Tactical story

Zhetysu’s game plan revolved around pressure from the service line. By keeping Kuanysh away from comfortable first-tempo options, the hosts made the visitors predictable. That allowed Zhetysu’s block to load up on the pins and gave the back-row defence a clearer picture of where the next attack would come from.

Kuanysh had encouraging spells, particularly when its outside hitters were able to attack against a spread block. But the visitors struggled to sustain those periods. Zhetysu’s distribution was more varied, and the hosts were able to mix quick attacks with back-row options to keep the Kuanysh defence guessing.

Standout performers

Zhetysu’s setter controlled the tempo well and consistently found the right matchup in transition. The team’s opposite hitter provided reliable scoring in the big moments, while the middle blockers contributed important blocks and quick kills. For Kuanysh, the libero was among the most active performers, but the team needed more from its terminal attackers in the closing points of each set.

Season impact

The sweep gives Zhetysu Women momentum and a strong home result to build on in the National League Women. It also underlines the value of their serve-and-block identity. Kuanysh Women leave with lessons from a match in which they competed for long stretches but could not match the hosts’ efficiency at the decisive moments.
