Jurmala Women had home-court advantage, but the match quickly turned into a test of execution. Lazdukalns/Balvu W passed with better consistency, controlled the tempo of rallies, and kept the pressure on Jurmala’s attack throughout the evening.

Match Overview

The opening set set the tone. Jurmala stayed close early, but Lazdukalns/Balvu W gradually pulled away by targeting the seams in the home side’s reception. Once the visitors established a lead, their block began to dictate terms, forcing Jurmala into uncomfortable swings from the wings.

From there, the match settled into a clear pattern. Lazdukalns/Balvu W sided out efficiently and used smart serving to break Jurmala’s rhythm. Jurmala showed flashes of quality, especially through its outside attack, but could not sustain enough pressure to shift the momentum.

Key Moments

• First-set break: A mid-set serving run from Lazdukalns/Balvu W opened the gap and gave the visitors control.
• Blocking surge: In the second set, the away side’s block closed down Jurmala’s preferred attacking angles and produced several transition points.
• Closing authority: Jurmala threatened briefly in the third set, but Lazdukalns/Balvu W responded with calm side-outs and finished the sweep.

Tactical Story

Lazdukalns/Balvu W won the tactical battle at the service line. The visitors served with purpose, mixing deep float serves with shorter placements to keep Jurmala’s passers guessing. That disruption allowed the block to load up on Jurmala’s outside hitters and limited the home side’s middle involvement.

Jurmala Women’s best sequences came when their setter used the middle early and created one-on-one opportunities on the pins. However, the team’s error count rose whenever the rallies extended. Lazdukalns/Balvu W remained disciplined in defense and converted enough transition chances to stay in front.

Standout Performers

Lazdukalns/Balvu W’s outside hitter provided consistent terminal points, while the setter managed the offense well under pressure. The visitors’ libero was also influential, keeping rallies alive and giving the team repeated chances to counter.

For Jurmala Women, the captain and libero led by example, but the team needed more production from the service line and a cleaner reception night. Against a side as organized as Lazdukalns/Balvu W, small passing errors proved costly.
