Frejus delivered a statement 3-0 road victory over Cambrai in Ligue B on 18 October 2026, winning 25-23, 25-18, 25-20.

Facing a Cambrai side eager to defend home advantage, Frejus produced a mature and disciplined performance. Their serving pressure and blocking consistency kept Cambrai at arm’s length for much of the match, and the visitors closed out the straight-sets win with authority.

Match overview

The first set was the tightest of the three, with both teams trading blows into the twenties. Cambrai had chances to take control, but Frejus stayed composed and won the key points at the end of the set. That set-back seemed to affect Cambrai’s confidence, and Frejus dominated the second set from the opening serve.

Cambrai improved in the third, but Frejus’s block and transition game remained superior. The visitors maintained a narrow lead throughout before pulling away in the final few rallies to complete the sweep.

Key moments

At 23-23 in the first set, Frejus won a long rally through a block, then sealed the set with an ace. Those two points changed the momentum completely. In the second set, Frejus broke away from 12-10 with a five-point serving run that included two blocks and a transition kill.

Cambrai briefly threatened in the third, cutting the deficit to 18-17, but Frejus responded with three consecutive points, capped by a powerful attack from the right side. Cambrai’s final error gave Frejus match point, which they converted immediately.

Tactical story

Frejus’s game plan was built on aggressive serving and a well-organized block. They targeted Cambrai’s middle attackers with short serves, disrupting the home team’s first tempo. That allowed Frejus’s block to focus on the outside hitters and force Cambrai into error-prone attacks.

Cambrai struggled to find consistent reception, which limited their options in attack. When they did pass well, their opposite hitter caused problems, but Frejus’s floor defence was able to absorb the pressure. Frejus’s setter also managed the game well, mixing the attack and keeping Cambrai’s blockers off balance.

Standout performers

Frejus’s opposite hitter was the standout attacker, delivering points in every set and especially in the tight moments. Their middle blocker controlled the net with several important blocks, while the libero was reliable in serve-receive. For Cambrai, the captain and outside hitter fought hard, but the team’s error count in the second set proved costly.

What it means for the Ligue B table

The win is a significant statement for Frejus in the Ligue B promotion race, showing they can win on the road against direct competitors. Cambrai will need to regroup quickly, as the defeat leaves them with work to do in the standings. Frejus, meanwhile, will take confidence from a complete team performance.
