Chaumont Volley-Ball 52 secured a dominant 3-0 away win over Plessis Robinson in Ligue A on 18 October 2026, taking the match 25-20, 25-22, 25-18.

Chaumont controlled the match from the first set, applying consistent serving pressure and blocking well at the net. Plessis Robinson competed hard, especially in the second set, but could not match Chaumont’s efficiency in transition or their composure in the closing stages.

Match overview

The first set saw Chaumont gradually build a lead through strong serving and disciplined defence. Plessis Robinson stayed within reach until the midway point, but a run of three straight blocks from Chaumont opened a gap that the hosts could not close. The second set was closer, with Plessis Robinson improving their attack, but Chaumont’s experience told in the final points.

Chaumont dominated the third set, racing into an early lead and never looking back. Plessis Robinson tried to change the momentum with substitutions, but Chaumont’s block and serve-receive remained solid, and the visitors closed out the match comfortably.

Key moments

In the first set, Chaumont broke away at 15-14 with a serving run that included two aces and a block. The second set was tied at 22-22 before Chaumont won three consecutive points, the last of which came from a spectacular back-row attack. That finish deflated Plessis Robinson, and Chaumont carried the momentum into the third set.

In the third, Chaumont opened a 10-5 lead and maintained control throughout. Plessis Robinson’s best moment came with a run of two blocks midway through the set, but Chaumont immediately responded with a sideout and an ace to restore their advantage.

Tactical story

Chaumont’s serving strategy was effective throughout, targeting Plessis Robinson’s outside hitters and forcing them into predictable attacks. Their block was well-organized, often closing the line and forcing the hosts to hit into the deep corner. Chaumont’s libero also had an excellent match, controlling the backcourt and allowing the team to transition quickly.

Plessis Robinson struggled to find rhythm in attack, especially in the first and third sets. Their setter tried to involve the middle more, but Chaumont’s serve-receive pressure limited the quality of the first pass. When Plessis Robinson did create chances, their opposite hitter was their most dangerous weapon, but Chaumont’s defence held firm.

Standout performers

Chaumont’s opposite hitter led the scoring with a consistent performance, while their middle blocker was dominant at the net. The setter managed the offence well and kept the block guessing. For Plessis Robinson, the middle blocker and libero were the bright spots, but the team’s attacking efficiency was below the level needed to challenge Chaumont.

What it means for the Ligue A table

Chaumont take three important points and strengthen their position in the Ligue A standings. Plessis Robinson remain in need of a response, with the defeat highlighting the gap between them and one of the league’s stronger sides. Chaumont will look to build on the win, while Plessis Robinson must regroup ahead of their next fixture.
