How the comeback was built

Kuzey Boru’s revival started with better first contact. After struggling to contain Kolejliler’s serve in the opening sets, the home side stabilized its reception and gave the setter more options. That allowed Kuzey Boru to involve the middle attack and create one-on-one situations for the wing hitters. Defensively, the team also began reading Kolejliler’s attacks more clearly, producing crucial digs that extended rallies and frustrated the visitors.

The block was another major factor. Kuzey Boru did not dominate the net statistically in the early stages, but their timing improved significantly from the third set onward. By closing the line and forcing Kolejliler to hit into defensive cover, the home side turned defence into attack and steadily took control of the match.

Key moments

The third set was the obvious turning point. With Kolejliler threatening to pull away, Kuzey Boru produced a run of points built on a serve, a block, and a transition kill. That sequence gave the home team the lead and renewed belief. In the fourth set, Kuzey Boru broke away midway through and never let Kolejliler back into the frame.

The fifth set was tense but controlled. Kuzey Boru took an early advantage and managed the side-out game well, preventing Kolejliler from building a run. A late block and a confident attack sealed the comeback and completed a 3-2 victory.

Standout performers

Kuzey Boru’s opposite hitter grew into the match and delivered several important points in the third and fourth sets. The setter’s decision-making improved as the contest progressed, while the team’s libero helped steady the reception line after a difficult start. Kolejliler’s middle blockers were impressive in the first two sets and kept the visitors in the match until the final frame.

What it means for the 1. Ligi table

The five-set win gives Kuzey Boru Genclik 2 Women a valuable two points and a major confidence lift, especially after trailing 0-2. For Kolejliler Women, the defeat will feel like a missed opportunity after such a strong start, but the team’s first two sets showed the quality it can bring to the Women’s 1. Ligi. Both sides will now turn their attention to the next round, where consistency across five sets will be essential.
