Bergama BSK W claimed a hard-fought 3-1 road victory over Izmir DSI W on October 3, 2026, in the 1. Ligi Women. The visitors recovered from a slow start to win three straight sets, demonstrating the kind of resilience and tactical discipline that could prove valuable in the race for promotion from Turkey's second-tier women's volleyball league.

Match Overview

Izmir DSI W opened the match with real energy, using their home crowd to fuel an aggressive serving and blocking display that earned them the first set 25-22. But Bergama BSK W responded like a team with a clear plan. They cleaned up their reception, reduced unforced errors, and began to dominate the net. The second set went their way 25-20, the third 25-23 after a tense finish, and the fourth 25-19 as Izmir's resistance finally broke.

Key Moments

• First set, 22-20 Izmir: A block and a quick middle attack gave the hosts just enough cushion to take the opener.
• Second set, 18-18: Bergama won five of the next six points, with two aces and a transition kill shifting the momentum.
• Third set, 23-23: A brilliant floor defence play led to a counter-attack that gave Bergama set point, which they converted immediately.
• Fourth set, 12-12: Bergama pulled away with a sustained serving run, forcing Izmir into repeated out-of-system attacks.

Tactical Story

Bergama's comeback was built on serve-receive stability. After struggling in the first set, their passers adjusted to Izmir's jump serves, allowing the setter to run a balanced offence with contributions from both wings and the middle. Defensively, Bergama's block became more disciplined, closing the angles that Izmir had exploited early on. Izmir, meanwhile, grew increasingly reliant on their outside hitters as the match wore on, and Bergama's defence read those tendencies well. The visitors also won the error battle convincingly, committing far fewer service and attack errors in the final three sets.

Standout Performers

Bergama's captain and outside hitter led the scoring with a series of important kills in transition, while their middle blocker controlled the net with timely blocks. The libero was a constant presence, keeping rallies alive and giving Bergama extra attacking opportunities. For Izmir DSI W, the opposite hitter produced some highlight-reel moments, but the team's inability to sustain pressure after the first set proved costly.

Season Impact

This result adds valuable points to Bergama BSK W's tally in the 1. Ligi Women and strengthens their position in the upper half of the table. Road wins in this league are never easy, and coming back from a set down shows character that could matter in the promotion race. Izmir DSI W will be disappointed to lose at home after such a promising start, but the performance offered glimpses of the quality they possess. Both sides now look ahead to their next fixtures with clear areas to build on.
