Kolejliler Women produced a composed road performance in the 1. Ligi Women on Saturday, coming from a set down to beat Ankara BBSK W 3-1 in a tightly contested derby. The 21:00 start brought a lively home crowd, but the visitors' serving and attacking consistency eventually proved too much for Ankara BBSK to handle.

Match Overview

Ankara BBSK began brightly and took the opening set with some of their best volleyball of the evening, mixing powerful serving with an aggressive block. The response from Kolejliler was immediate and emphatic: they raised their reception standard, reduced their unforced errors dramatically, and took control of the match from the middle of the second set onwards.

How the Sets Unfolded

First Set: 25-22 Ankara BBSK

The hosts were sharper early. Their serve kept Kolejliler's setter moving laterally, and the block read the visiting attack well enough to force several errors late in the set. A well-timed timeout at 22-20 helped steady Ankara BBSK, who closed the set on a block-and-kill combination.

Second Set: 25-20 Kolejliler

Kolejliler's turnaround began at the service line. With a more aggressive float serve, they pushed Ankara BBSK out of system and began generating free-ball opportunities. Once their transition attack found rhythm, the visitors looked the stronger side, and a five-point run at 17-15 effectively decided the set.

Third Set: 25-19 Kolejliler

The momentum had clearly shifted. Kolejliler's block began to close down the home team's preferred attacking lanes, and Ankara BBSK's error count climbed. The visitors led from the first technical timeout onwards and managed the scoreboard professionally, never allowing the gap to fall below three points in the closing stages.

Fourth Set: 25-21 Kolejliler

Ankara BBSK made one final push, and the set was level at 18-18. But Kolejliler's experience in the big moments told: two blocks and a service ace in a three-point burst broke the resistance, and they closed out the match on their second match point.

Tactical Story of the Match

This was a match decided at the service line and in transition. Ankara BBSK won the opening set primarily because their serving disrupted Kolejliler's first-ball attack. Once the visitors adjusted their reception formation and began passing their own serve more aggressively, the balance of the contest changed completely.

Kolejliler's blocking adjustments also mattered. After the first set, their middle blockers began shading towards the home team's most productive hitter, forcing Ankara BBSK to attack into a crowded court or take risks down the line. That pressure produced exactly the errors the visitors needed.

Standout Performances

• Kolejliler opposite hitter: Delivered the biggest attacking workload of the night and remained efficient deep into the fourth set.
• Kolejliler setter: Managed the match brilliantly after the opening set, spreading the attack and keeping the middle involved.
• Kolejliler middle blockers: Combined for a decisive block tally, with the majority coming after the first set.
• Ankara BBSK outside hitter: The most consistent threat for the hosts, particularly in the first and fourth sets.
• Ankara BBSK libero: Kept the home side in several long rallies with excellent positioning and calm ball control.

What It Means for the Standings

The win is a significant one for Kolejliler in the 1. Ligi Women, adding three points from a difficult away fixture and strengthening their claims near the top of the table. Away victories in this league are rarely straightforward, and winning after dropping the first set speaks to the squad's resilience.

For Ankara BBSK, the defeat is a missed opportunity on home soil. Their first-set performance showed what the team is capable of, but sustaining that level across four sets remains the challenge. Consistency in reception and error control will be the focus of training in the coming week.

Looking Ahead

Kolejliler will return home with confidence high and a favourable run of fixtures on the horizon. Ankara BBSK face a demanding stretch of matches that will test their depth, particularly in the middle. The two clubs will meet again later in the campaign, and on the evidence of this four-set contest, that rematch should be every bit as absorbing.
