Match Overview

Orion started brightly, using a strong serve to keep KP Brno B out of system. The home side built an early lead in the first set and never really surrendered it, taking the opener 25-19. The second set was tighter, with Brno B improving their floor defence and staying level deep into the set. Orion, however, found the important points at the end and edged it 25-23 to take a two-set lead.

Brno B responded well in the third set. Their serving became more aggressive, and they managed to disrupt Orion’s rhythm enough to build a narrow advantage. Orion fought back but Brno B held on for 25-23, extending the match. The fourth set was one-way traffic: Orion reasserted control from the first point, pulled away mid-set, and completed a 25-17 win.

Key Moments

• First set, 10-6: Orion’s serving run created an early cushion that Brno B could not erase.
• Second set, 20-20: Orion won three of the next four rallies to take command of a tight set.
• Third set, 22-20: Brno B produced a timely block and a transition kill to hold off Orion’s comeback.
• Fourth set, 12-8: Orion’s middle attack and block combination sparked a decisive run.

Tactical Story

Orion’s biggest advantage came at the net. Their block repeatedly forced Brno B into uncomfortable angles, and the home side’s back-row defence did a good job of converting those touches into counter-attacks. Orion’s setter also used the middle effectively, keeping Brno B’s blockers honest and creating space for the outside hitters.

Brno B’s best period came in the third set, when their serve became more aggressive and their defence extended rallies. For a while, they looked capable of turning the match into a longer battle. But Orion’s response in the fourth set was emphatic: better first contact, faster attacks, and fewer unforced errors. That combination proved too much for the visitors.

Standout Players

Orion opposite Markéta Svobodová was the match’s leading scorer with 21 points, consistently finding ways through the Brno B block. Setter Eliška Veselá finished with 42 assists and did an excellent job varying the attack. For KP Brno B, outside hitter Adéla Novotná led the resistance with 16 points, while libero Kristýna Pavlíková made several important defensive plays.

Standings Impact

The victory keeps Orion Prague Women on a positive trajectory in the 1. liga Women table and underlines the value of their home form. KP Brno B leave with credit for their third-set fightback, but the result shows they still need more consistency in system play. Orion’s ability to close sets and respond after a setback will be a key asset as the season progresses.
