Junior Brno Women began the match with clear intent, using aggressive serving to push Hronov out of system. The first set remained close until the final points, when Brno’s block and transition attack created just enough separation to take it 25-22. Hronov responded well in the second set, improving their first-touch passing and finding success through the outside hitters, edging it 25-23 to level the match.

The third set proved to be the turning point. Brno adjusted their serving strategy, targeting Hronov’s reception lines more consistently, and the hosts quickly built a lead they never surrendered. A 25-19 scoreline gave Brno the momentum back, and they carried that control into the fourth set, closing out the match 25-21.

Key Moments

• First set, 22-22: Brno won three straight points, including a block from the middle and a sharp back-row attack, to take the opening set 25-22.
• Second set, 23-23: Hronov held their nerve with two consecutive points, capitalising on a Brno hitting error and a well-placed serve to level the match at 1-1.
• Third set, 14-11: Brno’s setter changed the tempo, mixing quick middle attacks with high outside sets. The hosts pulled away to 25-19.
• Fourth set, 21-21: A service ace and two powerful blocks from Junior Brno Women sealed the set and the match, 25-21.

The fourth set was the most tense of the night. Hronov refused to fade, drawing level at 21-21 after a long rally that showcased their defensive resilience. But Brno’s front-row pressure told in the closing stages, with consecutive blocks forcing Hronov into rushed attacks and giving the home side the final push.

Tactical Story

Junior Brno Women’s game plan revolved around controlling the serve-and-pass battle. Their jump serves kept Hronov’s setter moving away from the net, limiting the visitors’ ability to run their preferred middle attack. When Hronov did manage to pass well, Brno’s block was quick to close, often forcing Hronov’s outside hitters into difficult angles.

Hronov’s best stretch came in the second set, when they improved their reception and used their opposite hitter effectively from the right side. They also defended well at the net, scoring several important block points. However, that level dropped in the third and fourth sets as Brno increased their serving risk and reaped the rewards.

Brno’s setter was central to the victory, distributing the ball evenly and keeping Hronov’s block guessing. The hosts also benefited from a strong transition game, turning defensive digs into quick counterattacks. Hronov, by contrast, struggled with unforced errors at key moments, especially in the third set when Brno built their decisive lead.
