Kladno 2 travelled to the capital and returned with a convincing 3-1 victory over MFF Prague in the Czech men's 1. liga, turning a competitive opening stretch into a controlled win. The match, played on 10 October 2026, saw the visitors recover from losing the first set to take the next three and claim a result that will boost their confidence in a crowded mid-table race.

Match overview

MFF Prague, the volleyball club attached to the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, started brightly in front of their home crowd. Their serving put the Kladno reception under pressure and their block timed the visitor's favourite attack routes well, giving them the opening set and a brief advantage in the match.

From the second set onwards the picture changed. Kladno 2 tightened their first contact, reduced their error count from the service line, and began to dictate the tempo of the rallies. Once the visitors found that rhythm, MFF struggled to break the pattern, and the match slipped away set by set.

Key moments

• MFF Prague took the opening set with a strong finish, punishing a handful of Kladno service errors.
• Kladno 2 levelled the match after a long, error-strewn second set, winning the closing rallies through better blocking.
• The third set was the most competitive of the night; Kladno's late surge proved decisive.
• The visitors closed out the fourth set to complete a 3-1 win and silence the home support.

Tactical story

Kladno 2's improvement was built on reception. With more stable first contact, their setter was able to involve the middle attackers regularly, which pulled MFF's block apart and created one-on-one opportunities on the wings. The visitors also adjusted their serving strategy after the first set, trading raw power for targeted placement and forcing the home side into out-of-system attacks.

MFF Prague's best passages came when their own block was organised, but sustaining that level across four sets proved difficult. Their transition game, in particular, lacked the efficiency needed to keep pace once Kladno found their range.

Standout performers

Kladno 2's opposite was the most consistent scorer on the night, delivering in the tight ends of sets, while their middle blocker made a visible impact at the net in the second and third sets. For MFF Prague, the libero kept the team alive in several long rallies and the captain's serving runs in the opening set showed the level the home side is capable of reaching.

What it means for the table

The victory gives Kladno 2 a valuable away win in the 1. liga and reinforces their status as a side capable of climbing the standings with the reserve-team depth at their disposal. MFF Prague, meanwhile, will look at this as a missed opportunity at home, though the competitive opening set suggests the margins in this division remain narrow.
