Kladno 2 delivered one of the most controlled performances of their 1. liga campaign on Saturday night, sweeping Kolin in straight sets 3-0 in front of a lively home crowd. The reserves of the Czech volleyball powerhouse never trailed for long, dictating the tempo from the opening serve and closing out the match without dropping a single set — a result that strengthens their position in the league standings and underlines the depth of the Kladno organisation.

Match Overview

The fixture, played at the Kladno sports hall, pitted a young but technically polished second-string side against a Kolin team known for its fighting spirit and strong serving. On paper, the visitors were expected to make it a scrappy affair. Instead, Kladno 2 imposed themselves early, building a cushion in each set through disciplined side-out play and a blocking wall that Kolin struggled to pierce.

The three-set win was built on efficient, low-error volleyball rather than explosive power. Statistics from the match point to a home side that kept its attacking errors in single digits across all three sets, while Kolin gave away a steady stream of points through service faults and misfired transitions.

Set-by-Set Breakdown

• Set 1 — 25-21: Kladno 2 set the tone with a strong opening rotation, breaking away midway through the set after a run of four consecutive points behind the service line.
• Set 2 — 25-19: The most comfortable set for the hosts. A dominant blocking sequence at 12-10 turned into a 19-12 lead, and Kolin never recovered.
• Set 3 — 25-22: Kolin's best spell. The visitors led 14-12 and forced a Kladno timeout, but the home side responded with a 7-1 surge to take control and close the match without drama.

Tactical Story

Kladno 2's game plan was clear: serve aggressively to disrupt Kolin's first-tempo attack and let the block do the rest. The strategy paid off handsomely. With Kolin's reception pushed off the net, the visiting setter was forced into predictable high-ball sets to the wings, where Kladno's blockers were waiting.

Kolin's coaching staff rotated their outside hitters in an attempt to find a working combination, and the third set suggested the adjustment had some effect. But Kladno 2's defensive discipline held firm, and their transition attack — consistently quick and well-organised — punished every loose ball.

Standout Performers

The home side's opposite hitter carried the heaviest attacking load and finished as the match's leading scorer, mixing sharp cross-court shots with well-timed tips over the block. The middle blockers were arguably the story of the night, contributing a high number of kill blocks and repeatedly shutting down Kolin's quick sets.

For Kolin, the libero was a bright spot, keeping several seemingly dead rallies alive and giving her team chances to counter. The captain and outside hitter showed flashes of real quality in the third set, but the support around her was too inconsistent to change the outcome.

Season Impact

The straight-sets victory adds three valuable points to Kladno 2's tally and keeps them in the upper half of the 1. liga table, where competition for playoff places is always fierce. For a reserve side, every win of this nature is a statement — it demonstrates that the club's development pipeline is producing players ready for senior volleyball.

Kolin, meanwhile, leave with no points and will look back at a missed opportunity, particularly in the third set where they held a lead. Their head-to-head record against Kladno 2 now leans further in the home side's favour, and the two clubs will meet again later in the season with Kolin eager for revenge.

What's Next

Kladno 2 will look to carry this momentum into their next league fixture, while Kolin return home to regroup and work on their reception consistency. Based on this performance, the return leg should be a far more competitive affair.
