Hradec Králové made the short trip home with three valuable 1. liga points after beating Beskydy B 3-1 on Saturday evening. The visitors recovered from a slow opening set to take control of the match, winning 23-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-21 in a contest that was decided by serving pressure and a much-improved block in the middle sets.

Match overview

Beskydy B started brightly in front of their home crowd, edging a tight first set 25-23 behind some effective middle attack and a few well-placed serves. Hradec Králové, however, responded immediately. A strong run from the service line early in the second set forced Beskydy out of system, and the visitors levelled the match before pulling away in the third and fourth sets.

• Set 1: Beskydy B 25-23 Hradec Králové

• Set 3: Beskydy B 18-25 Hradec Králové
• Set 4: Beskydy B 21-25 Hradec Králové

Key moments

The turning point came in the second set. With the score close, Hradec Králové produced a decisive six-point surge, mixing aggressive jump serves with disciplined block coverage. That run unsettled Beskydy B’s reception and limited the home side’s ability to use its middles. In the third set, Hradec’s block began to dominate the net, turning several Beskydy attacks into counter-attacking opportunities.

Beskydy B briefly threatened in the fourth set, keeping within two points deep into the frame, but Hradec Králové stayed calm in the closing rallies. A pair of strong defensive plays and a well-executed quick attack helped the visitors close out the match without needing a fifth set.

Tactical story

The match was shaped by Hradec Králové’s adjustment after the first set. The visitors increased their serve risk and targeted Beskydy B’s outside hitters, making it harder for the home side to run its preferred attacking patterns. Hradec also tightened its block-defence relationship, with the middle blockers closing gaps and the back-row players picking up deflected balls.

Beskydy B’s best spells came when their serve was aggressive enough to keep Hradec out of rhythm. The home side’s first-set win showed what they can do when reception holds, but once Hradec Králové settled, Beskydy struggled to find consistent answers in attack.

Standout performers

Hradec Králové’s opposite hitter was a reliable outlet in the big moments, scoring from the right side and helping relieve pressure when reception was imperfect. Their libero also had a strong match, extending rallies with important defensive reads. For Beskydy B, the middle blocker was the brightest attacking option early on, while the setter kept the side competitive with a varied distribution in the first set.

Season impact

The 3-1 result gives Hradec Králové a useful away win and strengthens their position in the 1. liga standings. Beskydy B, meanwhile, miss the chance to build on home advantage and will need to improve their response when opponents increase serving pressure. The head-to-head now favours Hradec Králové, and the rematch later in the season will be an important test for Beskydy B’s ability to adjust.
