Kifisias secured a convincing 3-0 road win over Foinikas Syroy in the League Cup on October 29, 2026. The visitors won 25-20, 25-22, 25-18, using disciplined serving and a compact block to control the match from the middle of the first set onward.

Match overview

Foinikas Syroy started brightly in front of their home supporters, but Kifisias quickly found rhythm through their opposite hitter and a steady serve-reception unit. The visitors took the first set with a late run, then protected their advantage in a tighter second set. The third set was more one-sided as Kifisias’ block began to dominate.

Key moments

• First set: Foinikas led 14-13 before Kifisias scored five of the next six points, shifting the momentum for good.
• Second set: The home side saved three set points, but a service error ended the set at 25-22.
• Third set: Kifisias opened a 12-6 lead and never allowed Foinikas back into the set.

Tactical story

Kifisias’s serving strategy was central to the win. The visitors attacked the seams of Foinikas’ reception line, limiting the home team’s ability to use its middle attackers. That pressure allowed Kifisias to set up a strong block and convert defensive touches into quick transition points.

Foinikas Syroy found some success when they managed to get their captain into rhythm from the left side, but the team’s attack became too predictable in the face of Kifisias’ block. The hosts also struggled to contain Kifisias’ opposite hitter, who consistently scored from awkward angles and in crucial moments.

Standout players

Kifisias opposite Dimitris Papadopoulos led the scoring and delivered several momentum-changing points. Setter Giorgos Nikolaidis managed the game well, while the middle blockers created enough pressure to force Foinikas into uncomfortable swings. For Foinikas Syroy, Nikos Alexiou was the most persistent attacking threat, but the home side needed more production from the wings.

League Cup impact

The result strengthens Kifisias’ position in the League Cup and gives the team a valuable away clean sheet in a competition where set difference can matter. Foinikas Syroy will need to improve their side-out consistency and blocking discipline in their next outing. Kifisias’ straight-sets win also sends a clear message about their ability to compete away from home.
