Match overview

The first set set the tone: Woori served aggressively, forced KB Stars into uncomfortable attacking positions, and built a lead that they protected comfortably. KB Stars improved in the second set and stayed close into the middle stages, but Woori’s block made the difference in the key rallies. The third set was Woori’s most complete, as they jumped ahead early and never allowed KB Stars to mount a serious comeback.

• Set 1: Woori 25-20
• Set 2: Woori 25-22
• Set 3: Woori 25-19

Key moments

The opening set turned when Woori produced a run of strong serves that disrupted KB Stars’ reception and led to a string of transition points. In the second set, KB Stars briefly found rhythm through their outside attack and kept the score tight at 18-18, but Woori responded with a block and two counterattacks to regain control. The third set was effectively decided early: Woori opened a six-point lead and maintained a comfortable cushion, closing the match with a decisive block at the net.

Tactical story

Woori’s game plan was clear and effective. They targeted KB Stars’ reception line with deep serves, limiting the quality of first-tempo attacks and forcing predictable outside sets. That allowed Woori’s block to set up early and their defense to read the play. KB Stars tried to change the rhythm with substitutions and quicker middle attacks, but they could not sustain the adjustment. Woori’s setter also kept the offense balanced, ensuring the middle remained a threat and creating space for the pin hitters.

Standout performers

Woori’s opposite hitter was the match’s most reliable scorer, especially in the second set when KB Stars threatened to make it competitive. The middle blocker controlled the net with several key blocks, while the libero provided steady reception and defense. For KB Stars, the outside hitter showed fight with a few important kills, but the team’s serve-receive struggles prevented them from building consistent pressure.

KOVO Cup impact

The sweep gives Woori a strong result in the KOVO Cup standings and reinforces their credentials in the men’s competition. For KB Stars, the loss is a clear learning moment: their blocking and transition defense improved as the match went on, but they must find more stability in reception to compete against the tournament’s best serving teams. In a pre-season cup where momentum matters, Woori will be pleased with both the scoreline and the control they showed across all three sets.
