Nysa Women claimed a 3-1 home victory over Gedania Gdansk Women in I. Liga Women on 24 October 2026, producing a balanced attacking display and a decisive third-set surge to take control of the match. The home side won 25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 25-18, recovering quickly after dropping the second set.

Match overview

Nysa Women started strongly, using their serve to keep Gedania Gdansk away from the net and building an early lead in the first set. Their block was well organised, and the home outside hitters found space on both sides of the court. A 25-19 opening set gave Nysa the early advantage.

Gedania responded well in the second set. The visitors improved their reception and began to find more success through the middle, forcing Nysa’s defence to respect the quick attack. The set remained close until the final points, when Gedania edged it 25-22 to level the match. That response set up a crucial third set, and Nysa answered with their best volleyball of the night. They regained control at the service line, won several key transition rallies, and took the set 25-21. The fourth set followed a similar pattern, with Nysa pulling away midway through and closing out a 25-18 win.

Key moments

• First set: Nysa’s serve and block set the tone, and the home side took the opener 25-19.
• Second set: Gedania found more rhythm in attack and levelled the match with a 25-22 win.
• Third set: Nysa regained the initiative with a strong mid-set run and moved ahead with a 25-21 victory.
• Fourth set: The home side kept their error count low and finished the match with a 25-18 closing set.

Tactical story

Nysa’s success came from their ability to control the tempo of the match through serving. When their serve landed, Gedania’s first-ball attack became predictable, allowing Nysa’s block to set up and their defence to read the play. The home setter also did a good job of involving the middle early, which kept Gedania’s block honest and created better angles for the outside hitters.

Gedania’s best period came in the second set, when their reception held and their setter was able to spread the attack. However, they struggled to sustain that level once Nysa increased the pressure in the third set. The visitors’ error count rose in the closing stages, and Nysa’s ability to win the long rallies made the difference.

Standout performers

Nysa’s opposite hitter delivered a strong all-round performance, carrying a heavy scoring load and coming up with important kills in the third set. The home libero was also influential, stabilising reception and extending rallies with several impressive defensive plays. For Gedania, the middle blocker was a consistent threat in the second set, while the visiting outside hitter produced a number of important points during the visitors’ best spell.

Standings and season impact

The win strengthens Nysa Women’s position in the I. Liga Women standings and gives them a valuable home result against a competitive opponent. For Gedania Gdansk Women, the defeat leaves them searching for greater consistency, particularly in the closing sets of tight matches.

Nysa will be pleased with the way they responded after losing the second set, and that kind of resilience will be important as the season progresses. Gedania, meanwhile, will focus on maintaining their serving and reception standards for longer stretches.
