The result boosts KS Pila in the I. Liga Women table and hands Gedania a frustrating home defeat after a promising start. In a league where away wins are often hard-earned, Pila's response after losing the first set was the story of the match.

Match Overview

Gedania Gdansk began brightly, winning the first set 25-22 with energetic home support and effective left-side attacking. KS Pila needed time to find their rhythm, but once their serve became more aggressive, the match shifted.

Pila took the second set 25-20, dominated the third 25-19, and closed out the fourth 25-21. Their block-defence connection improved set by set, while Gedania's reception became more brittle as the match wore on.

Set-by-Set Summary

• First set – Gedania Gdansk 25-22: The hosts used a strong opening serve and efficient transition to take the lead.
• Second set – KS Pila 25-20: Pila raised their serving intensity and forced Gedania into predictable attacks.
• Third set – KS Pila 25-19: A dominant blocking stretch gave Pila full control.

Key Moments and Turning Points

The second set was where the match turned. Trailing 10-9, KS Pila went on a five-point run behind two aces and a block, forcing Gedania into a timeout. From that point, Pila's confidence grew, and Gedania struggled to regain the initiative.

In the third set, Pila's middle blockers took over. A series of blocks and transition kills opened a 16-9 lead, effectively deciding the set. Gedania pushed in the fourth and closed to within two points at 21-19, but Pila stayed calm and finished with a well-placed serve and a sharp angle kill.

Tactical Story: Pila's Serving and Blocking Adjustment

KS Pila's coaching staff made a clear adjustment after the first set: serve deeper and target Gedania's outside passers. That strategy reduced Gedania's middle involvement and allowed Pila's block to set up more easily on the wings.

Gedania's best volleyball came when they passed well and used their quick middle attack. But as the match progressed, their first contact deteriorated, and Pila's floor defence capitalised. Pila also won the battle at the net, finishing with a decisive edge in blocks.

Standout Performances

KS Pila's opposite hitter led all scorers with 22 points, including several crucial kills in the fourth set. Their setter distributed the offence effectively, and the libero made a string of important defensive plays. For Gedania, the outside hitter fought hard and finished with a team-high 17 points, but support was intermittent.

I. Liga Women Table Impact

The 3-1 win gives KS Pila Women three points on the road and strengthens their position in the I. Liga Women standings. Gedania Gdansk Women remain competitive but will need to improve their reception consistency if they are to turn home matches into victories.

For Pila, this is the kind of away performance that builds a season. For Gedania, it is a lesson in maintaining intensity after a strong opening set.
