Bialystok Women claimed a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Gedania Gdansk Women on 10 October 2026, delivering a performance in I. Liga Women that combined attacking power with the kind of patience required to break down a stubborn opponent.

The match was decided across four competitive sets, with the home side dropping only the third before reasserting control in the fourth. It was a result that underlines Bialystok's ambition this season and leaves Gedania Gdansk reflecting on a night where they competed well but lacked the finishing touch at the key moments.

Match Overview

• Competition: I. Liga Women
• Fixture: Bialystok Women vs Gedania Gdansk Women
• Date: 10 October 2026
• Final result: Bialystok Women – Gedania Gdansk Women 3-1

Bialystok started brightly and took the opening set with a controlled display of side-out volleyball, winning the long rallies and converting their transition opportunities. Gedania responded with a much-improved second set, pushing the home team deep into the twenties before Bialystok found the extra gear needed to take a two-set lead.

The third set went the way of the visitors, who finally managed to sustain their serve pressure and force Bialystok out of system. But any hopes of a full comeback were extinguished in the fourth, as the home side regrouped, tightened their block and closed out the match in convincing fashion.

Key Moments

• Set one: Bialystok broke away with a run of points behind the serve, taking firm control of the opener.
• Set two, closing stages: Two decisive blocks at the net gave the home side a two-set cushion.
• Set three: Gedania's best stretch of the night, built on aggressive serving and improved transition play.
• Set four: Bialystok restored order immediately, winning the first four points and never looking back.

Tactical Story

Bialystok's strength was their balance. Their setter distributed efficiently across the front row, keeping both wings involved and using the middle just often enough to keep Gedania's blockers honest. When the home side were in system, they looked a class apart; the challenge came when their reception wavered, which is exactly what happened in the third set.

Gedania Gdansk's game plan revolved around disrupting that reception. When their serve landed, they were able to neutralise Bialystok's quick attack and force higher, more predictable sets to the outside. That approach worked well for one set, but it requires precision to sustain, and in the fourth set the error count climbed as the visitors chased the match.

The decisive battlefield was the net. Bialystok's block was the more disciplined unit over the course of the evening, repeatedly turning Gedania's best attacks into counter-attacking opportunities.

Standout Performers

Bialystok's opposite was their attacking reference point, taking on the heaviest swings and delivering in the tight moments. Her ability to score from the back row gave the home team an extra dimension that Gedania struggled to defend. The libero also had an excellent match, anchoring the reception line under sustained pressure.

Gedania's outside hitters deserve credit for fighting through a difficult evening, and their setter's willingness to use the middle early in rallies kept the home block from over-committing.

Season Impact

In the context of the I. Liga Women standings, this is an important result for Bialystok, who keep pace with the leading group and protect their home record. Winning four-set matches rather than allowing them to drift into deciders is a marker of a team maturing into a promotion contender.

For Gedania Gdansk, the defeat is a reminder that competing with the top sides requires more than one good set. Their third-set display showed what they are capable of, and replicating that level for longer stretches will be the focus in the weeks ahead.
