Match overview

VKP Bratislava Women started steadily, using their serve to keep Nove Mesto nad Vahom Women away from comfortable attacking positions. The first set remained close until the midpoint, but VKP’s block began to close down the angles and the hosts edged ahead. The second set followed a similar pattern, with VKP creating separation through a mid-set run and then managing the closing points well. Nove Mesto nad Vahom fought hard in the third set, but VKP’s greater depth and attacking balance proved too much.

Key moments

• At 15-15 in the second set, VKP produced a 6-1 run that effectively broke the set open.
• Nove Mesto nad Vahom’s best chance came early in the third set, but VKP answered immediately with a block-and-counter sequence.
• A late service run from VKP forced another timeout and closed the door on any late comeback attempt.

Tactical story

VKP’s serving strategy was central to the win. By targeting the seams and forcing Nove Mesto nad Vahom into less controlled receptions, the hosts limited their opponent’s ability to run the middle attack. VKP also defended well around the block, turning several scrambled rallies into transition points. Nove Mesto nad Vahom showed good fighting spirit in defence, but their attacking choices became predictable as the match wore on, allowing VKP to set up double blocks on the wings.

Standout players

Marta Kovacova led VKP with 16 points, finding success from both the front and back row. Libero Eva Simkova was excellent in reception and floor defence, giving the hosts the platform they needed in transition. Setter Barbora Chalupova kept the offence balanced, spreading the ball across the net and involving the middle blockers whenever the pass allowed. For Nove Mesto nad Vahom, there were encouraging moments in defence, but the team needed more efficiency from its primary attackers.

Season impact

The three-set win strengthens VKP Bratislava Women’s position in the Extraliga Women table and adds another confident home result to their season. Nove Mesto nad Vahom Women leave with useful lessons, particularly about handling sustained serve pressure and maintaining attacking variety against a well-organized block. VKP’s ability to win without being dragged into a long match could prove valuable as the schedule tightens.
