Bekescsabai Women produced the comeback of the round in the Extraliga Women, defeating MAV Elore SC Women 3-2 in a five-set thriller on October 24, 2026. The visitors lost the opening set and had to fight through a series of momentum swings, but their serving and block defense grew stronger as the match went on, and they closed out the deciding set 15-13 to take a memorable road win.

Match overview

MAV Elore started with purpose in front of their home crowd, using an aggressive serve to keep Bekescsabai out of system. The first set went the way of the hosts at 25-22, with their outside hitters finding space through the block and the middle attack keeping the offense balanced. It looked as though the home side might settle into a comfortable rhythm, but Bekescsabai responded immediately in the second set.

The visitors raised their service pressure and began to win the long rallies. Their block tightened around the antenna, forcing MAV Elore into more predictable swings, and Bekescsabai leveled the match with a 25-21 second set. The third set was the most closely contested of the night, with both teams trading side-outs deep into the frame. MAV Elore edged it 25-23, but the effort required to do so would prove costly.

Key moments

The turning point came in the fourth set. Bekescsabai trailed early but found a decisive run from the service line, disrupting MAV Elore’s reception and creating free-ball opportunities for their transition attack. A 25-22 win sent the match to a deciding set and shifted the momentum firmly toward the visitors.

In the fifth set, Bekescsabai held a narrow lead through the change of ends and refused to let it slip. MAV Elore saved one match point to close to 14-13, but the visitors stayed composed on the next rally, sealing the win with a sharp attack through the middle. The final 15-13 scoreline underlined how small the margins were in a match that could easily have gone either way.

Tactical story

Bekescsabai’s victory was built on service pressure and defensive patience. They finished with a clear edge in blocks during the second half of the match, and their libero consistently kept rallies alive when MAV Elore appeared to have found a gap. The visitors also used their bench effectively, rotating in fresh legs at the net and maintaining their intensity through five sets.

MAV Elore’s attack was effective in patches, particularly when their setter connected with the middle, but the home side struggled to sustain quality across the full match. Too many free balls drifted long, and their reception broke down in the fourth and fifth sets under sustained serving pressure. Those small errors proved decisive in a match of fine margins.

Standout players

Bekescsabai’s opposite hitter delivered several important points in transition and was the team’s most reliable outlet in the closing stages. Their middle blocker also made a strong impact at the net, scoring key blocks in the fourth set and helping to slow MAV Elore’s outside attack. The setter managed the offense well under pressure, consistently finding the right matchup as the match wore on.

For MAV Elore, the outside hitters carried much of the scoring load, especially in the first and third sets. The libero produced a number of impressive defensive plays to keep the hosts in contention, but the team could not find the same level of consistency in the final two sets.

Season impact

The result gives Bekescsabai Women an important boost in the Extraliga Women standings and reinforces their ability to win close matches on the road. A five-set victory against a direct rival can be worth more than just the points, and the visitors will take confidence from their composure in the deciding set.

For MAV Elore SC Women, the loss is a frustrating one. They showed enough quality to win, but their inability to close out the fourth set and their struggles in serve-receive left them with a narrow defeat. The team will need to regroup quickly as the Extraliga Women season continues, with consistency at home set to be a key theme in their campaign.
