Lvi Prague Women opened their Extraliga Women campaign with a composed 3-1 victory over Selmy Brno Women at home, turning a tense opening set into a convincing four-set performance. The Prague side dropped the second set but responded with the kind of control that separates genuine title contenders from mid-table sides, closing out the match in front of a lively home crowd.

Match Overview

The contest followed a familiar pattern for early-season Extraliga volleyball: high energy, plenty of unforced errors, and one team gradually imposing its structure. Lvi Prague took the first set with sharp serving and disciplined block defence, only for Selmy Brno to hit back in the second with a more aggressive attacking line and better first-ball control. From the third set onwards, however, the home team reasserted itself, tightening its reception and forcing Brno into predictable, high-ball situations.

Key Moments

• Set one: Lvi Prague built an early cushion with a run of strong serves, taking the opener and setting the tone.
• Set two: Selmy Brno raised their blocking intensity and levelled the match, exposing gaps in the Prague defence.
• Set three: A decisive mid-set run from the hosts restored their advantage and never really looked under threat.
• Set four: Brno threatened briefly before Prague's serving pressure and efficient transition attack sealed the win.

Tactical Story

The match turned on serve and reception. Lvi Prague's ability to keep Brno out of system proved the difference, particularly after the interval. When the visitors were able to play in-system, their outside hitters caused real problems, but those moments became rarer as the match wore on. Prague's setter managed the game intelligently, distributing across the net and using the middle attack to keep Brno's block honest.

Selmy Brno will take encouragement from their second-set display, which showed they can compete at this level when their passing holds up. Their challenge this season will be consistency — they have the attacking tools, but the margins in Extraliga Women are unforgiving against organised opponents.

Standout Performers

Prague's opposite hitter carried much of the scoring load, particularly in the closing stages, while their libero produced several important defensive plays that kept rallies alive. For Brno, the middle blockers were the most effective performers, combining for a series of blocks that briefly changed the momentum in the second set.

Season Impact

The three points lift Lvi Prague into the early upper reaches of the Extraliga Women standings and give them momentum heading into their next fixture. Selmy Brno leave empty-handed but with a performance that suggests they can collect points in the coming weeks. The head-to-head record now leans toward Prague, and on this evidence they will be a difficult team to beat at home all season.
