Vasas Women produced a clinical away performance in the Extraliga Women on Sunday, sweeping Corecomm W 3-0 in a match that showcased the visitors' superiority in almost every phase. Vasas won 25-18, 25-21, 25-19, applying consistent pressure from the service line and controlling the net throughout the evening.

Vasas take control from the start

Vasas Women looked sharp from the first whistle. Their serving was deep and disciplined, limiting Corecomm's options in attack, and their block set early to close the line on the home side's main hitters. A six-point run mid-set, featuring two aces and a pair of transition kills, broke the set open and Vasas cruised to a 25-18 opening-set victory.

Corecomm improve but still trail

Corecomm W responded with more fight in the second set. Their reception stabilised, and they began using the middle more effectively, which pulled Vasas's block apart and created one-on-one opportunities on the wings. The set was tight through the first half, and the home crowd sensed a possible shift in momentum. But Vasas's composure in the closing rallies proved decisive: a well-constructed block-and-defence sequence followed by an aggressive serve gave them the breathing room to take it 25-21.

Vasas close it out

The third set followed a familiar pattern. Vasas reasserted control with an early serving run, forcing Corecomm into uncomfortable attacking situations, and their block continued to win the battle at the net. The visitors' setter varied the distribution nicely, keeping the middle involved to hold the opposing blockers honest while still feeding the pins in prime situations. Corecomm battled to the end but could not close the gap, and Vasas finished the sweep 25-19.

Key moments

• A six-point Vasas run midway through the first set that determined the opening frame.
• Corecomm's strongest passage in the second set, when improved passing briefly put Vasas under pressure.
• A block-and-defence combination late in the second set that restored Vasas's two-point cushion at a critical moment.
• An early serving surge in the third set that snuffed out any hope of a Corecomm comeback.

Tactical story

Vasas Women controlled this match in the same way they have controlled many this season: through serve, block, and efficient transition. Their serving strategy targeted Corecomm's seams and made the home side predictable in attack, which in turn allowed the Vasas block to load up on the pins. The visitors also defended with intelligence, positioning well behind a disciplined block and converting a high proportion of transition opportunities. Corecomm's best moments came when they passed perfectly and could use the middle, but those moments were too rare to sustain a challenge.

Standout performers

Vasas's outside hitter was the match's most reliable scoring option, delivering from both front and back row and holding up well in reception. Their middle blocker dictated the net, racking up block points and forcing Corecomm to adjust their attacking angles. Corecomm's libero produced a number of excellent defensive plays that kept rallies alive, while their opposite hitter showed flashes of quality against a well-organised block.

Season impact

The straight-sets victory strengthens Vasas Women's position in the Extraliga Women and underlines their credentials as one of the division's most complete sides. For Corecomm W, the defeat is a reminder of the standard required against the league's leading teams, though the second-set spell offered genuine encouragement. With the season progressing, Vasas will look to maintain this level of control, while Corecomm will focus on turning improved passages into full sets and, ultimately, into points.
