Pribram 1-3 Usti: Visitors Recover From Slow Start in Extraliga Clash

Usti produced a composed comeback to defeat Pribram 3-1 in the Extraliga on October 18, 2026. After losing the opening set 25-22, the visitors won the next three sets 25-21, 25-23 and 25-19 to secure a strong road victory and leave the home side searching for answers.

The match was a tale of two starts. Pribram began with energy and precision, but Usti gradually imposed their block, improved their serve-receive and took control of the contest. By the fourth set, the visitors were playing with confidence and closed out the match in convincing fashion.

Match overview

Pribram opened the match with purpose, using a lively home crowd to fuel a 25-22 first-set win. Their outside hitters found success against the Usti block, and the team’s serving kept the visitors under pressure. But Usti responded well in the second set, raising their defensive intensity and finding more balance in attack to level the match at 25-21.

The third set proved decisive in the overall momentum. Pribram stayed close for much of the set, but Usti’s block began to pay dividends and the visitors edged it 25-23. From there, Usti controlled the fourth set, building a comfortable lead and sealing the win 25-19.

Set-by-set scores

• Set 1: Pribram 25-22 Usti
• Set 2: Pribram 21-25 Usti
• Set 3: Pribram 23-25 Usti
• Set 4: Pribram 19-25 Usti

How the match turned

The second set was where Usti found their rhythm. Their serve became more aggressive, forcing Pribram into predictable attacks, and the block followed up with key stops. Once Usti had levelled the match, the pressure shifted to the home side. Pribram had chances in the third set but could not convert at the crucial points, and Usti’s ability to score in transition made the difference.

In the fourth set, Usti never allowed Pribram to build momentum. The visitors led early and maintained a four-to-five-point cushion for much of the set, closing it out with a strong finish at the net.

Tactical story

Usti’s block-defence connection was the standout tactical feature of the match. They slowed down Pribram’s outside attack and forced the home side into repeated high-pressure swings. As the match wore on, Pribram’s error count rose, while Usti’s setter found good rhythm with the middle attackers.

Pribram’s serving was effective in the first set but became less consistent thereafter. Their reception held up reasonably well, but the lack of a reliable side-out option in the tight moments allowed Usti to pull away. The visitors also won the serving battle, producing a series of aces and service winners that broke Pribram’s momentum.

Standout performers

Usti opposite Jakub Novák led all scorers with 23 points, delivering important kills in each of the final three sets. Middle blocker Petr Havlík added strong production at the net, while libero Martin Černý was reliable in defence.

Pribram’s best performer was outside hitter Tomáš Dvořák, who finished with 18 points. Captain Jan Procházka also contributed in attack, but the home side lacked the same consistency in the closing stages.

What it means for the Extraliga table

The 3-1 win gives Usti a valuable three points on the road and strengthens their position in the Extraliga standings. Pribram, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly after a result that slipped away following a promising start. The home side showed flashes of quality, but the match underlined the importance of maintaining serving pressure and limiting errors against experienced opposition. Usti will look to build on the result in their next fixture, while Pribram will target a response in their next league outing.
