Presov delivered a confident 3-0 home victory over Trnava in the Extraliga on October 18, 2026, winning 25-19, 25-21, 25-18. The straight-set success was built on a steady serve-receive game, a strong block and a well-balanced attack that kept Trnava under pressure throughout the match.

Match overview

Presov began the match with good energy and quickly established control in the opening set. Their serving was aggressive without being reckless, and the block was able to close down Trnava’s preferred attacking angles. Presov took the first set 25-19, but Trnava responded with a more competitive second set before the home side pulled away late to win 25-21.

The third set followed a similar pattern. Presov maintained their discipline in serve-receive, kept their error count low and found enough variety in attack to keep Trnava’s defence moving. The home side closed out the match 25-18, securing a valuable three points and a clean sweep.

How the sets unfolded

In the first set, Presov’s block set the tone. The home side were able to slow Trnava’s outside attack and force a number of recycled balls, which they converted through quick transition play. Presov’s setter used the middle effectively, creating one-on-one opportunities for the pin hitters and keeping Trnava guessing.

Trnava improved in the second set, extending rallies and finding more success through their own serve pressure. The set was tightly contested for much of its duration, but Presov’s composure in the closing points proved decisive. A late scoring run gave them a 25-21 win and a 2-0 lead. In the third set, Presov again found another gear, moving ahead early and controlling the remainder of the match.

Key moments

• Presov’s block and transition play helped them take the opening set 25-19.
• Trnava competed well in the second set, but Presov’s late surge secured a 25-21 advantage.
• The home side’s early lead in the third set removed any doubt about the result.
• Presov closed the match 25-18, completing a 3-0 victory.

Tactical story

Presov’s success was rooted in control. They served with enough aggression to disrupt Trnava’s reception, but they also limited their own errors, ensuring Trnava rarely received free points. The block-defence connection was particularly effective, with Presov’s front row reading the setter’s decisions well and the back row positioned to clean up deflected attacks.

Trnava had their moments, especially in the second set, when their serving improved and they forced Presov into longer rallies. However, they struggled to sustain that pressure across all three sets. Presov’s ability to side-out consistently in the big moments gave them a clear edge.

Standout performers and season impact

Presov’s opposite hitter provided a reliable scoring outlet, while the middle blockers contributed important points in attack and defence. The libero’s passing helped Presov maintain their offensive rhythm, and the setter managed the game well, spreading the attack and keeping Trnava’s block off balance. For Trnava, the outside hitters worked hard against a well-organised block, but the team’s reception was too often under stress.

The 3-0 win gives Presov three points in the Extraliga standings and reinforces their home-court strength. Trnava will look to improve their first-contact consistency and late-set execution ahead of their next match. For Presov, the focus will be on maintaining this level of discipline and balance as the season progresses.
