MAV Elore SC secured a 3-1 home victory over Debrecen in the Extraliga on 25 October 2026, producing a composed team performance to take three points. After splitting the first two sets, MAV Elore raised their level in the third and fourth, using strong serving and a balanced attack to close out the match.

Match overview

The match finished 3-1, with set scores of 25-22, 23-25, 25-19 and 25-21. Debrecen responded well after losing the opening set and levelled the match, but MAV Elore regained control at the start of the third set and never really let it slip. The home side’s ability to score in transition proved decisive.

Set-by-set story

• First set – MAV Elore 25-22: The hosts edged a tight opening set, finding important points through their wing attack and benefiting from a few Debrecen errors late on.
• Second set – Debrecen 25-23: Debrecen improved their blocking and caused MAV Elore problems in reception. The set was close throughout, but the visitors held their nerve.
• Third set – MAV Elore 25-19: MAV Elore reasserted themselves with a strong start. Their serve disrupted Debrecen’s rhythm, and the block began to dominate the net.
• Fourth set – MAV Elore 25-21: Debrecen stayed within touching distance for much of the set, but MAV Elore pulled away in the closing stages to seal the win.

Tactical story

MAV Elore’s serving was the foundation of their victory. They targeted Debrecen’s reception effectively, reducing the visitors’ ability to involve their middle attackers. That allowed MAV Elore’s block to focus on the wings and win several crucial points. In attack, the home side showed good variety, mixing quick middle attacks with power from the outside and opposite positions. Debrecen’s second-set improvement came from better first-contact play, but they could not sustain that level.

Standout performers

MAV Elore’s captain led by example, scoring in key moments and helping the team stay calm after losing the second set. Their middle blocker was influential at the net, contributing both blocks and quick attacks. Debrecen’s opposite hitter had a strong spell in the second set, but the visitors needed more consistent support across the match.

Season impact

The 3-1 win gives MAV Elore SC an important home result in the Extraliga and reinforces their ability to respond after setbacks within a match. For Debrecen, the defeat leaves them with lessons to take from the second set, but also areas to improve in reception and block defence. MAV Elore will look to carry this momentum forward, while Debrecen will focus on finding greater consistency in their next outing.
