Komarno secured a convincing 3-0 home win over Presov in the Extraliga on October 25, 2026, taking the match 25-22, 25-20, 25-19. The result was built on disciplined blocking, strong serving, and a balanced attack that kept Presov under pressure from the opening serve.

Match at a glance

How Komarno built the straight-sets win

The first set was closely fought until the closing stages. Presov matched Komarno point for point through the middle of the frame, with Peter Novák finding success from the outside. At 21-21, however, Komarno raised their level. Martin Kováč produced two important kills, and a well-timed block from Lukáš Horváth gave the hosts the cushion they needed to close it 25-22.

Komarno carried that momentum into the second set. An early 6-2 run forced Presov into a timeout, but the visitors could not stop the home side’s serving pressure. Komarno’s block continued to frustrate Presov’s attackers, and the transition game was sharp throughout. Kováč remained the focal point in attack, while the middle hitters kept Presov’s block honest. Komarno took the set 25-20.

Presov tried to respond in the third set, but Komarno’s defense held firm. The hosts led 16-13 at the technical timeout and pulled away with a run of strong serves that disrupted Presov’s reception. Horváth added two more blocks in the closing stretch, and Komarno finished the match at 25-19.

Tactical story: block-defense connection

Komarno’s victory was rooted in their block-defense connection. The home side consistently set a strong block at the net, funneling Presov’s attacks into areas where their defenders were waiting. That allowed Komarno to turn defense into quick counterattacks, often before Presov could reorganize. The serving strategy was equally important: Komarno targeted Presov’s outside hitters and limited the visitors’ ability to use the middle.

Presov had spells of good attacking play, particularly in the first set, but they struggled to maintain rhythm after poor first contacts. Their block also had difficulty containing Kováč, who used a variety of shots to avoid the double block. In the end, Komarno’s efficiency in the key moments made the difference.

Standout performers

• Martin Kováč led Komarno with 18 points, delivering important kills in each set.
• Lukáš Horváth scored 12 points, including five blocks, and anchored the net defense.
• Peter Šimko added 10 points and provided a reliable option from the right side.
• Peter Novák top-scored for Presov with 12 points, but the visitors lacked consistency in attack.

What the result means

The 3-0 victory gives Komarno maximum points in the Extraliga and an important early-season confidence boost. Their home form has started strongly, and the balance between serving, blocking, and attacking will encourage the coaching staff. Presov, meanwhile, will need to improve their reception consistency and find more scoring options when their primary attackers are contained. The head-to-head result adds another home win to Komarno’s record and leaves them looking well organized ahead of their next fixture.
