Kladno secured a clean 3-0 home victory over Usti in the Czech Extraliga on 25 October 2026, winning 25-20, 25-22, 25-17. The hosts combined a strong block with patient transition play to keep Usti at arm’s length for most of the evening, and a dominant third set made sure there was no way back for the visitors.

Match overview

Kladno started with purpose, taking control of the first set through a run of strong serves and well-organised defence. Usti stayed competitive early in the second and even threatened to extend the match, but Kladno’s composure in the closing points proved decisive. The third set was a different story altogether: Kladno broke away early, silenced Usti’s attack and closed the match with their most complete set of the night.

• Set 1: Kladno 25-20
• Set 2: Kladno 25-22
• Set 3: Kladno 25-17

Key moments

The second set was the pivotal passage. Usti recovered from a slow start and kept the score close into the twenties, forcing Kladno to work for every point. At 22-21, the hosts produced a crucial block followed by a sharp counter-attack to move within two points of the set. Usti could not respond, and Kladno’s late surge effectively ended the visitors’ resistance. The third set then became a procession as the home side’s confidence grew.

Tactical story

Kladno’s serving strategy targeted Usti’s outside hitters and limited their ability to run the middle attack. That allowed the home block to set up earlier and forced Usti into several rushed swings. Kladno also defended the floor well, extending rallies and waiting for mistakes. On offence, the hosts mixed power with placement, using the right side effectively when Usti’s block drifted. Usti’s best moments came when they served aggressively, but they could not maintain that pressure for long enough.

Standout performers

Kladno’s opposite David Čermák led the team with 16 points and was especially effective in the second set. Middle blocker Lukáš Prokop added five blocks and created plenty of difficulty for Usti’s attackers, while libero Martin Jelínek anchored the back court with a series of important digs. For Usti, Pavel Říha top-scored with 11 points, but the visitors struggled to find consistent support around him.

Season impact

The 3-0 win gives Kladno three points and a confidence boost at home, where their serve-and-block game looks increasingly reliable. Usti will be disappointed with the third set in particular, having stayed close for much of the first two. The result adds another layer to the Extraliga standings, with Kladno moving into a more comfortable position while Usti are left to regroup ahead of their next fixture.
