Brno secured a solid 3-1 home victory over Odolena Voda in the Czech Extraliga on 23 October 2026, using a strong finish to close out a match that was competitive through the early stages. The home side won 3-1 and underlined their ability to control long stretches of play at the net.

Match overview

Brno started brightly and took the opening set, but Odolena Voda responded well to level the match. The turning point came after that response: Brno re-established their serving and blocking authority, moved ahead again, and then finished the job with their most complete set of the evening.

The 3-1 scoreline reflected Brno’s growing control as the match progressed. Odolena Voda remained dangerous in attack and produced several impressive individual moments, but the visitors struggled to sustain pressure once Brno found their rhythm in transition.

Key moments

• Brno’s strong start in the first set gave them an early cushion and forced Odolena Voda to chase the game.
• Odolena Voda’s best spell came in the second set, when their outside attack found gaps in the Brno block.
• A run of well-timed blocks in the third set restored Brno’s advantage and shifted the momentum decisively.
• In the fourth set, Brno pulled away midway through and closed the match with controlled serving.

Tactical story

Brno’s victory was built on defensive discipline and a more consistent block. The home side were able to slow down Odolena Voda’s attack in the crucial middle sets, forcing the visitors into more difficult angles and limiting their clean kills. Brno’s setter also did well to involve the middle attackers, keeping the offence balanced and preventing Odolena Voda from loading up on one side of the net.

Odolena Voda competed well when their reception held, but the pressure grew in the third and fourth sets. Brno’s serving became more targeted, and the home side’s transition game improved as a result. The match turned on Brno’s ability to turn defence into quick points.

Standout performers

Jakub Novák led Brno with a strong attacking display, while Marek Svoboda made important contributions at the net and from the service line. The Brno block, anchored by their middle duo, was a decisive factor in the final two sets. For Odolena Voda, Tomáš Hrubý produced a battling performance and was central to the visitors’ best attacking passages.

Season impact

The win gives Brno a valuable home result in the Extraliga and reinforces their competitive credentials in the early part of the campaign. Odolena Voda will take encouragement from their second-set response but will need greater consistency in reception and blocking to turn competitive performances into points on the road.
