Beskydy claimed a dramatic 3-2 victory over Liberec in the Extraliga on October 18, 2026, winning the deciding set 15-11 after a match full of attacking volleyball and momentum shifts. The set scores were 25-22, 20-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-11.

Match overview

Beskydy started the match with purpose, using a strong block and a varied attack to take the first set. Liberec responded in the second, raising their serve pressure and forcing Beskydy into a series of difficult receptions. The third set was another tight affair, but Beskydy’s composure in the final points gave them the lead again. Liberec refused to go away, winning a tense fourth set to send the match to a decider.

In the fifth, Beskydy found the extra spark. A couple of early blocks and a well-timed ace created a narrow lead, and they held their nerve through the final rallies to close out the match.

Key moments

• First-set finish: Beskydy broke away at 22-22 with a block and a sharp cross-court attack.
• Liberec’s response: A strong serving run in the second set helped Liberec level the match and take control of the tempo.
• Fifth-set separation: Beskydy won three consecutive points midway through the decider, including a crucial block, to build a lead they never surrendered.

Tactical story

Beskydy’s win was built on balance. Their setter did an excellent job of distributing the ball, keeping Liberec’s block guessing and creating space for both the middle and the wings. Beskydy’s block was particularly effective in the first and fifth sets, limiting Liberec’s options and forcing them into predictable attacks. Liberec’s serve was their best weapon in the second and fourth sets, but Beskydy adjusted their reception and reduced errors in the deciding set.

Standout performers

Beskydy’s opposite hitter produced several big swings in the closing stages, while the middle blockers contributed important points at the net. The libero was steady under pressure and helped Beskydy maintain their side-out rhythm. Liberec’s outside hitters kept the visitors competitive throughout, but Beskydy’s depth and composure in the final set proved to be the difference.

Standings impact

The five-set victory gives Beskydy a valuable two points in the Extraliga standings and reinforces their ability to win tight matches. Liberec leave with a narrow defeat but will take encouragement from their fighting spirit and the way they extended a strong opponent to five sets. Both teams will now turn their attention to the next round, with Beskydy looking to build momentum and Liberec aiming to turn close losses into wins.
