Brno claimed a hard-fought 3-2 road win over Beskydy in the Czech Extraliga on 25 October 2026, turning a tense five-set contest in their favour with a composed 15-12 tie-break. The visitors recovered from losing the first and third sets to force a decider, then held their nerve in the closing points to take a result that could matter in the crowded middle of the standings.

Match overview

Beskydy made the brighter start in front of their home support, using an aggressive block to take the opening set 25-22. Brno responded well in the second, tightening their serve reception and finding more rhythm in transition to level the match with a 25-23 set win. The home side regained the initiative in the third, pulling away late for 25-20, but Brno refused to fade. A disciplined fourth set kept the visitors alive at 25-22, and the tie-break became a test of patience as much as power.

• Set 1: Beskydy 25-22
• Set 2: Brno 25-23
• Set 3: Beskydy 25-20
• Set 4: Brno 25-22
• Set 5: Brno 15-12

Key moments

The fourth set was the turning point. With Beskydy threatening to build a decisive lead, Brno produced a four-point burst behind stronger serving and a pair of important block touches. That run changed the momentum and forced a decider. In the fifth, Brno moved ahead early and protected the advantage, siding out efficiently whenever Beskydy threatened to close the gap. A final attack down the line sealed the win and denied the hosts a share of the points.

Tactical story

Brno’s improvement from the service line was central to the comeback. Their float serves and targeted deep serves disrupted Beskydy’s first-tempo attack, especially in the fourth and fifth sets. Beskydy still had success through the middle and caused problems with their block, but too many transition rallies ended in unforced errors. Brno’s setter also did a better job of spreading the attack in the closing stages, keeping the home block guessing and creating one-on-one opportunities on the wings.

Standout performers

Brno’s opposite hitter Adam Pavlík led the scoring with 24 points, including several crucial kills in the tie-break. Outside hitter Tomáš Hladík added 18 points and carried a heavy reception load, while middle blocker Matěj Horák contributed five blocks. For Beskydy, Jakub Novák top-scored with 21 points and Petr Konečný defended well in the back court, but the hosts could not convert enough of their late-set chances.

Season impact

The result gives Brno two valuable points for a 3-2 victory, while Beskydy take one point from the defeat. In a league where away wins often separate the contenders from the pack, Brno’s ability to close out a fifth set on the road is a useful sign. Beskydy, meanwhile, will look back at the fourth set as the moment the match slipped away and will focus on reducing errors in tight end-game situations.
