Sliedrecht Women claimed a convincing 3-0 victory over Somas Activia Women in the Eredivisie Women on 11 October 2026, winning 25-20, 25-23, 25-16 in a match where their blocking and serving proved decisive. The straight-sets result strengthens their position in the Dutch top flight and hands Somas Activia a frustrating evening in which their best spells never quite produced reward.

Match Overview

Sliedrecht came into the contest with a reputation for physical front-court play, and they delivered exactly that: a heavy service game, a well-drilled block, and enough attacking variety to keep the visitors guessing. Somas Activia, known for their gritty defensive work, made the second set a genuine contest but could not sustain that level across the full match.

The hosts sealed the win in just over an hour and a quarter, their most comfortable league victory of the early season.

Key Moments

• Set 1 (25-20): Sliedrecht built an early cushion and protected it, closing the set with a powerful block on the right side.
• Set 2 (25-23): The pivotal set. Somas Activia saved three set points before Sliedrecht's opposite ended a long rally with a sharp cross-court finish.
• Set 3 (25-16): With the match in their grasp, the hosts dominated from start to finish, opening an early gap and never easing off.

Tactical Story

The story of the match was Sliedrecht's advantage at the service line. Their jump serves generated a steady stream of free balls and poor passes, giving their setter the luxury of running the middle attack and keeping Somas Activia's block honest. Whenever the visitors did manage to construct an attack, they encountered a well-organised double block.

For Somas Activia, the second set demonstrated what was possible when their reception held. Their quick middle combinations and disciplined transition play caused Sliedrecht real problems, and had they pinched that set the match could have developed very differently. Losing it 23-25 visibly deflated them, and the third set reflected that emotional cost.

Standout Players

Sliedrecht's opposite hitter was the match's most productive attacker, delivering in every set and finishing the crucial second-set rally in style. Their middle blockers combined for a high block count, while the libero marshalled the back court with calm authority.

Somas Activia's setter was their standout performer, finding creative solutions under pressure and orchestrating the resistance in set two. Their outside hitters worked hard against a taller block and deserve credit for the team's resilience in the middle stanza.

Season Impact

The win is a significant one for Sliedrecht Women in the Eredivisie Women table, adding three points and improving their set ratio, which could matter when the standings tighten later in the season. It also represents a psychological boost ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.

Somas Activia Women will leave with the second set as a blueprint — a reminder that when their passing holds, they can compete with anyone in the division.
