Forde Women produced one of the most complete away performances of their Eliteserien Women campaign so far, sweeping Finstad W 3-0 in a match where the visitors controlled virtually every phase of play. The scoreline reflects the pattern of the night: Forde were sharper at the service line, more organised in defence, and far more efficient in the tight rallies that decide volleyball matches at this level.

Match Overview

Finstad W went into the fixture hoping that home advantage and a lively crowd could unsettle a Forde side known for its structure and patience. Instead, it was the visitors who settled fastest, imposing their rhythm from the opening serve and never allowing the hosts to build any sustained momentum.

The final result — Finstad W 0, Forde Women 3 — was a straight-sets victory that underlines the gap between the two teams on the night. Forde rotated their squad late in the match, a clear sign of how comfortable they had become, while Finstad were left searching for answers in almost every department.

How the Sets Unfolded

• Set one — Forde set the tone. The visitors jumped out to an early lead through aggressive serving, forcing Finstad's reception line deep and disrupting any hope of running a quick middle attack. The hosts clawed back a few points with some strong individual blocks, but Forde closed the set calmly to take a 1-0 lead.
• Set two — defensive dominance. This was where Forde's quality really showed. Their floor defence turned several seemingly lost rallies into counter-attacking points, and Finstad's hitters grew increasingly frustrated, repeatedly meeting a well-formed block. Forde doubled the advantage.
• Set three — no way back. Finstad made their best start of the match, leading briefly and drawing loud support from the home crowd. But Forde responded with a decisive scoring run in the middle of the set, regained control, and finished the sweep without needing a fourth set.

Tactical Story of the Match

The defining battle was at the service line. Forde Women served with purpose and variety, mixing powerful jump serves with well-placed floaters to keep Finstad's passers guessing. That pressure had a knock-on effect throughout the match: without clean first contacts, Finstad were reduced to predictable high balls to the wings, and Forde's block was waiting.

In contrast, Forde's own reception held up impressively under pressure. Their setter was able to use the full width of the net, involving the middles early and keeping the outside hitters in one-on-one situations. That balance is precisely what makes a 3-0 sweep possible on the road — it removes the chaos that lets underdogs back into a match.

Standout Performances

Forde's opposite hitter was the most consistent attacking threat on the floor, converting in transition as well as in system. The middle blockers dictated the defensive tone with a string of blocks, while the libero produced a series of outstanding digs that repeatedly extended rallies and drained Finstad's energy. For the hosts, the setter worked hard to create chances and one of the outside hitters showed flashes of real quality, but the supporting cast struggled against such organised opposition.

Eliteserien Women Season Impact

A 3-0 away win is worth more than three points in the Norwegian top flight — it builds momentum and confidence. For Forde Women, the result strengthens their position in the upper reaches of the Eliteserien Women standings and sends a clear message to the other contenders that they can travel and dominate.

For Finstad W, the loss is a difficult but instructive night. The team's defensive structure and reception consistency will need work before the return fixture, and the coaching staff will surely use the video of this match as a teaching tool. The Eliteserien Women season is long, and there is still plenty of time to recover — but performances like this show exactly the standard required to compete near the top of the table.
