Match overview

Voluntari Women started the match with purpose, applying pressure from the service line and forcing Targu Mures into a series of uncomfortable attacking situations. That close finish gave the hosts confidence, and they raised their level in the second set.

The second set followed a similar pattern but with Voluntari in greater control. Their block began to dominate, and their transition attack was sharper than their opponents'. Targu Mures fought hard but could not find a way to consistently break down the home side's defense. Voluntari took the second set 25-19 and then completed the sweep with a 25-16 third set, finishing the match with their most convincing spell of volleyball.

Key moments

The end of the first set was crucial. With the score tied at 21-21, Voluntari produced a decisive run, winning four straight points through a combination of a sharp serve, a block and two well-executed counter-attacks. That burst gave them the opening set and set the tone for the rest of the match. In the second set, Voluntari broke away midway through with a five-point run that turned a narrow lead into a comfortable cushion.

The third set was effectively decided early. Voluntari raced into a 12-6 lead and never allowed Targu Mures to close the gap. The visitors tried to change the momentum with substitutions and a more aggressive serve, but Voluntari's first contact held up well and their offense remained efficient. The hosts closed the match with authority, sealing the 3-0 win.

Tactical story

Voluntari Women's serving was the foundation of their victory. They mixed power and placement effectively, keeping Targu Mures away from the net and limiting the visitors' ability to run their middle attack. With Targu Mures forced into more predictable outside sets, Voluntari's block could set up early and close the angles. The hosts also won the transition battle comfortably, converting defense into points with regularity.

Targu Mures Women had their best spells when they managed to extend rallies and force Voluntari into errors. However, they struggled to sustain that level and were often undone by their own first-contact inconsistencies. Voluntari's setter managed the match well, spreading the offense and keeping the visitors' block guessing throughout.

Standout performers

Voluntari's opposite hitter was a consistent threat from the right side and delivered several important points in the tight moments. The middle blockers controlled the net and gave the team a strong defensive presence, while the libero produced a steady performance in reception and defense. For Targu Mures, the outside hitters showed fighting spirit, but the team lacked the consistency needed to challenge Voluntari over three sets.

What the result means

The 3-0 win gives Voluntari Women three valuable points in the Divizia A1 Women and strengthens their position in the league table. It was also a performance that underlined their depth and tactical discipline. Targu Mures Women will need to improve their reception and serving if they are to compete with the league's stronger sides, while Voluntari can take confidence from a controlled and professional home victory.
