Benfica Women produced a dominant 3-0 away victory over Porto Volei Women in the 1. Divisao Women on October 18, 2026, delivering a performance full of control, serving pressure and attacking efficiency.

The straight-sets win underlined Benfica’s quality in the league and gave them a valuable road result, while Porto Volei were left to reflect on a match in which they rarely found a way to disrupt the visitors’ rhythm.

Match overview

Benfica established their authority early, using strong serves to push Porto Volei out of system and then capitalizing with a well-organized block. The hosts showed energy and some good defensive moments, but they struggled to sustain attacking pressure against a side that consistently won the long rallies.

Set scores: 25-17, 25-19, 25-21.

Set-by-set

• First set: Benfica raced ahead and took the opener 25-17, with their serve creating a steady stream of difficult receptions for Porto Volei.
• Second set: Porto Volei improved their fight and stayed closer, but Benfica’s attacking depth helped them secure a 25-19 win.
• Third set: The hosts produced their best stretch of the match, but Benfica held firm in the closing points to complete a 25-21 victory.

Key moments

The first set set the tone for the match. Benfica’s early serving run forced Porto Volei into a series of predictable attacks, and the visitors’ block was able to neutralize them at the net. The second set followed a similar pattern, with Benfica pulling away whenever the hosts threatened to build momentum.

Porto Volei’s best chance came in the third set, when they stayed within two points for much of the frame. However, Benfica’s composure in the final rallies proved decisive, and they closed out the match without needing a fourth set.

Tactical story

Benfica’s serving was the foundation of the win. By targeting the seams and forcing Porto Volei into uneven passing, they limited the hosts’ ability to run quick attacks through the middle. That allowed Benfica’s block to focus on the wings and made it difficult for Porto Volei to find clean kills.

In attack, Benfica mixed power with patience. They were willing to extend rallies and trust their defense, and they consistently found good matchups at the net. Porto Volei, by contrast, too often relied on individual efforts rather than a settled team attack.

Standout performers

Benfica’s outside hitters led the scoring effort, but their setter was central to the team’s control, distributing the ball evenly and keeping the attack unpredictable. The libero also delivered a strong defensive performance, extending rallies and giving Benfica extra chances to counter.

For Porto Volei, the middle blocker and libero were among the most active performers, but the team as a whole could not match Benfica’s consistency from the service line.

Season impact

The 3-0 result is a significant boost for Benfica in the 1. Divisao Women standings and reinforces their credentials as a side capable of winning on the road. Porto Volei will need to improve their reception and side-out efficiency as they look to bounce back in their next league fixture.
