Match Overview

The fixture, played on 14 October 2026, pitted two sides with very different ambitions in the cup format, where one bad night is enough to end a campaign. Ceske Budejovice arrived with a clear game plan: serve aggressively, disrupt Kladno's first contact, and let their block do the rest. It worked almost perfectly.

• Competition: Czech Cup Women
• Result: Kladno Women 0-3 Ceske Budejovice Women
• Set scores: 19-25, 22-25, 16-25

Set-by-Set Breakdown

First set (19-25): Ceske Budejovice set the tone early with a run of strong serves that pushed Kladno out of system. The hosts struggled to generate clean side-outs, and the visitors built a lead they protected comfortably, closing the set with a well-worked transition point through the middle.

Second set (22-25): This was the most competitive passage of the night. Kladno found some rhythm behind their outside hitters and traded points deep into the set, even edging ahead at the technical timeout. But Ceske Budejovice raised their level at the decisive moment, stringing together three straight points at 22-22 to steal the set and effectively break the match open.

Third set (16-25): With the tie slipping away, Kladno's error count climbed while the visitors grew more assertive at the net. Ceske Budejovice dominated the block and finished the set decisively, sealing the sweep without needing a fourth set.

Tactical Story of the Match

The match was decided at the service line and above the net. Ceske Budejovice's aggressive serving forced Kladno into predictable, high-arc passes, which in turn made the home side's attack easy to read. That predictability fed directly into the visitors' blocking scheme, and the block-to-defence connection kept rallies short and one-sided.

Kladno's best moments came when they managed to slow the tempo and involve their middle blockers, but those spells were too brief. Their reception struggled under pressure, and when the first contact broke down, the setter had few options beyond forcing the ball to the wings against a well-organized double block.

Standout Performers

• Ceske Budejovice outside hitter: The most consistent attacking outlet of the night, repeatedly scoring in transition and carrying the team through the tight second set.
• Ceske Budejovice middle blocker: Dominant at the net, contributing a string of momentum-shifting blocks in the third set.
• Ceske Budejovice setter: Excellent distribution, keeping the offence balanced and consistently finding one-on-one matchups.
• Kladno libero: One of the few bright spots for the hosts, producing several difficult defensive saves that kept rallies alive.

What It Means

For Ceske Budejovice Women, this is exactly the kind of road performance cup runs are built on: disciplined, efficient, and completed without the emotional and physical cost of a long five-set battle. They advance with momentum and a clean sheet in the loss column.

For Kladno Women, the exit is a frustrating one. The second set represented a genuine opportunity to change the trajectory of the match, and letting it slip at 22-22 proved decisive. Rebuilding reception stability and reducing unforced errors will be the immediate priorities as attention returns to league play.

The straight-sets result also underlines the gap in execution between the two sides on the night. In cup volleyball, where there is no safety net, Ceske Budejovice's ability to win the key points at the end of sets was the difference between a tense contest and a routine victory.
