Rudolfov Women advanced in the Czech Cup Women's competition with a convincing 3-1 victory over Havlickuv Brod Women on Saturday evening. After dropping a tight second set, the visitors reasserted themselves emphatically, closing out the tie with two dominant sets to book their place in the next round.

Match Overview

The tie started at 19:00 on 19 September 2026 and, for the opening two sets, looked like developing into a long battle. Havlickuv Brod Women competed well at the net and gave their home supporters plenty to cheer about, but Rudolfov Women's greater attacking depth and superior serving eventually told. The final two sets were among the most controlled passages of volleyball Rudolfov have produced in the competition so far.

Set-by-Set Breakdown

• Set 1: Rudolfov Women 25-20 — a composed start built on strong serving.
• Set 2: Havlickuv Brod Women 25-23 — the hosts fought back to level the match.
• Set 3: Rudolfov Women 25-17 — the visitors dominated from the first serve.
• Set 4: Rudolfov Women 25-22 — Havlickuv Brod pushed hard, but Rudolfov closed it out.

Key Moments

The third set was the decisive passage of the match. Havlickuv Brod had just won the second set and had the momentum, but Rudolfov opened the third with a 7-2 run and never allowed the hosts back into the set. The visitors' serving was relentless, producing a string of poor receptions and forcing Havlickuv Brod into predictable high-ball attacking.

In the fourth set, Havlickuv Brod showed real character to recover from 12-7 down and level the score at 19-19. But Rudolfov found another gear in the final stretch, winning six of the last nine rallies to seal the win. A spectacular block at 22-21 proved to be the defining point of the set.

Tactical Story

Rudolfov Women's game plan centred on serve pressure and an aggressive block, and it worked almost exactly as designed once the match settled. By keeping Havlickuv Brod out of system, they reduced the effectiveness of the hosts' middle attack and forced the outside hitters into difficult swings against a well-organised block.

Havlickuv Brod Women were at their most dangerous when they managed to get their quick attack going, particularly in the second set and during their fourth-set comeback. Their defensive effort was excellent, with several impressive digs keeping rallies alive, but they lacked the consistent terminal attack needed to break Rudolfov down over four sets.

Standout Performers

Rudolfov's opposite hitter was the standout attacker on the night, consistently finding the floor in the big moments and leading the team's scoring. Their setter also deserves praise for excellent distribution, repeatedly isolating one-on-one situations for the wing attackers and keeping the middle involved in the third set.

For Havlickuv Brod, the libero was arguably the best player on the court in the second set, anchoring the reception and producing a series of spectacular defensive plays. Their captain led the fourth-set fightback with a run of important kills before Rudolfov regained control.

What It Means

The result sends Rudolfov Women through to the next stage of the Czech Cup Women's competition with confidence high. Winning away from home against a resilient opponent, and responding so well after losing a set, is a strong indicator of a team capable of making a deep cup run.

Havlickuv Brod Women will be disappointed to exit, particularly after competing so well in two of the four sets. The positives, however, are clear: their defensive organisation and fighting spirit gave a strong opponent genuine problems, and they will look to carry those qualities into their league fixtures.
