Match overview

The hosts began aggressively and edged a tight first set, but Liberec’s experience and serving quality gradually took over. The visitors levelled the match in the second set, then controlled the third and held off a late MFF challenge in the fourth to close it out.

• Set 1: MFF Prague 25-23
• Set 2: Liberec 25-20
• Set 3: Liberec 25-18
• Set 4: Liberec 25-22

Key moments

MFF Prague’s first-set win gave the home side confidence, but Liberec answered immediately. The visitors improved their serve-receive and began to create more pressure from the service line, which allowed their block to take control. The second set was tight early before Liberec pulled away.

The third set was Liberec’s most dominant stretch. The visitors built a clear lead and never allowed MFF Prague to recover. The hosts made a better contest of the fourth set and stayed within touching distance, but Liberec found the necessary points late to avoid a deciding set.

Tactical story

Liberec’s serving was the defining feature of the match. The visitors consistently tested MFF Prague’s reception and forced the hosts into predictable attacks. That allowed Liberec to set its block earlier and win more points in transition. As the match progressed, Liberec’s setter also did a good job of involving the middle attackers to keep the MFF block guessing.

MFF Prague’s best volleyball came in the first set and in patches of the fourth, when its outside hitters found ways through the block. However, the hosts struggled to sustain their serving pressure and made too many errors in the middle sets, giving Liberec the separation it needed.

Standout performers

Liberec’s outside hitter was a steady presence in attack, especially in the third and fourth sets, while the team’s middle blockers provided important stops. The setter managed the match well after a shaky opening set. For MFF Prague, the opposite hitter and libero had encouraging moments, but the team needed more consistency around them.

Cup impact

The win sends Liberec into the next round of the Czech Cup, where its serve-receive stability and blocking will be important against stronger opposition. MFF Prague exits the competition after a promising start, but the hosts can take encouragement from their first-set performance. The cup result adds extra importance to Liberec’s season as the club looks to build momentum across competitions.
