Kladno produced a ruthless cup performance to beat Karlovarsko C 3-0 in the Czech Cup on 28 October 2026, booking their place in the next round with a controlled straight-sets victory. The visitors were sharper in every key department, taking the sets 25-22, 25-19 and 25-21 to end the home side’s cup hopes without conceding a set.

Match overview

The opening set was the most competitive of the night. Karlovarsko C stayed close through the middle phase and threatened to establish a lead, but Kladno found the better finish to take it 25-22. That late surge proved important, as Kladno carried the momentum into the second set and opened a clear advantage on the way to a 25-19 win.

The third set followed a similar pattern. Karlovarsko C showed resistance and stayed within range for a while, but Kladno’s serving and block-defence kept the home side from building any sustained pressure. A 25-21 close completed the sweep and confirmed Kladno’s place in the next round of the Czech Cup.

Key moments

• First-set finish: Karlovarsko C were competitive deep into the opener, but Kladno’s composure in the final points secured a 25-22 win.
• Second-set break: Kladno built an early advantage in the second set and maintained it, denying the home side any route back into the set.
• Third-set resistance: Karlovarsko C improved and stayed in touch, but Kladno’s serving and transition play closed out the match 25-21.

Tactical story

Kladno’s serving was the foundation of their success. They consistently targeted Karlovarsko C’s reception lines, forcing the home side into high sets and predictable attacks. That allowed Kladno’s block to set up early and gave their defence a clearer picture of where the next attack would come from.

Karlovarsko C had moments of attacking promise, particularly when their outside hitters found space against the block. But they struggled to maintain first-contact quality and were often forced into risky swings. Kladno, by contrast, managed the match calmly and used their setter to keep the attack balanced, ensuring the home block could not focus on one scoring option.

Standout performers

Kladno’s opposite hitter provided a steady scoring threat, while the middle blockers made their presence felt at the net. The libero also contributed to a solid defensive display, helping Kladno control long rallies and convert counter-attacks. The team’s serving discipline was arguably the standout feature of the performance.

For Karlovarsko C, the libero and outside hitters showed fight, especially in the first and third sets. However, the home side lacked the attacking consistency to truly trouble Kladno. Their cup exit will hurt, but the experience of competing against a well-drilled opponent offers clear lessons for future domestic commitments.

Cup impact

The straight-sets win sends Kladno into the next round of the Czech Cup with momentum and a clean sheet in set terms. Cup volleyball rewards teams that manage pressure and minimise errors, and Kladno did both effectively. Karlovarsko C exit the competition, but their battling spells — particularly in the opening and closing sets — showed enough spirit to suggest they can respond positively in their upcoming fixtures.
