The second set was the tightest of the match. Nova KBM Branik improved their attack and stayed close, but Asterix Avo found another gear at 22-22, winning the final three points to take a 2-0 lead.

Key moments

• First set, 17-17: Asterix Avo won four straight points, including two blocks, to create the decisive gap.
• Second set, 22-22: A service ace and a transition kill gave the hosts breathing room before they sealed the set.
• Third set, 12-7: Asterix Avo’s block dominated a long stretch, forcing Nova KBM Branik into errors and ending the visitors’ resistance.

Tactical story

Asterix Avo’s game plan was clear: serve with enough pressure to keep Nova KBM Branik out of system, then use their block to control the net. That strategy worked well, especially in the third set. The hosts’ block was disciplined, often taking away the line and forcing the visitors’ hitters into predictable cross-court shots.

In attack, Asterix Avo showed good variety. Their setter used the middle effectively, which created space for the outside hitters. The back-row attack also played an important role, particularly when Nova KBM Branik’s block started to close down the pins. Nova KBM Branik had spells of good play, but their reception was too inconsistent to sustain pressure over three sets.

Standout performers

Asterix Avo’s outside hitter was the standout attacking force, delivering key points in all three sets and leading the team’s scoring. The middle blocker made a big impact with her block and quick attacks, while the libero provided stability in defence. The setter’s decision-making was also excellent, especially in the tight second set.

For Nova KBM Branik, the opposite hitter fought hard and produced several impressive kills. The team’s captain also led by example in defence, but the visitors needed more consistent support around her to challenge Asterix Avo’s control.

Season impact

The 3-0 win is an ideal start for Asterix Avo Women in the CEV Champions League Women. It gives them early momentum, a clean set record, and confidence in their home form. For Nova KBM Branik Women, the result leaves clear areas to improve, particularly in serve-receive and error control, as they prepare for the next round of matches.
