Tactical story

Vitoria’s ability to adapt at the net proved decisive. After struggling to contain Mamede’s middle attack in the opening set, they adjusted their block positioning and began to slow down the home side’s quick combinations. Vitoria also improved their serve-reception in the second and fourth sets, allowing their setter to involve the opposite hitter more regularly. Mamede fought hard and produced several strong runs, but their error count rose in the decisive fifth set.

Standout players

Vitoria’s opposite hitter delivered a strong all-round performance, scoring important points in each of the final three sets. Their libero was also influential, keeping several difficult balls alive in the deciding set. For Mamede, the outside hitters carried much of the attacking responsibility, but they were met by a stubborn Vitoria block in the closing stages.

Standings impact

The 3-2 win gives Vitoria a valuable road victory in the Campeonato Nacional and strengthens their position in the standings. Mamede take a point from a match they led at times, but will be disappointed to lose the deciding set after such a competitive display.
