Dachau Bounce Back to Beat Schwaig 3-1 in 2. Bundesliga South

Dachau secured a valuable home win in the 2. Bundesliga South on 18 October 2026, defeating Schwaig 3-1 in a match that showcased both attacking quality and tactical adjustments. Dachau took the first two sets 25-21 and 25-19, dropped the third 22-25, and then reclaimed control in the fourth to close out a 25-20 victory. The result gives Dachau three important points and a response after Schwaig briefly threatened to turn the match around.

Match overview

Dachau began the match with excellent energy and a clear serving plan. The hosts built a narrow lead in the first set before pulling away in the closing stages, then produced their most complete volleyball of the night in the second. Schwaig responded well after the interval, tightening their block and extending rallies to take the third set. The fourth set was tense until the mid-teens, when Dachau found a decisive run to secure the win.

Key moments

• First set, 15-14: Dachau created separation with a 6-2 run, using strong serving and a couple of well-read blocks to move ahead 21-16.
• Second set, early dominance: The hosts jumped to a 10-5 lead and kept Schwaig at a comfortable distance, closing the set with a confident attack down the line.
• Fourth set, 18-18: After Schwaig had won the third, Dachau responded with a 5-1 surge in the fourth to regain the initiative and finish the match.

Tactical story

Dachau’s balance was the key difference. The hosts distributed their attack well, keeping Schwaig’s block moving and creating opportunities for both pins and the middle. Schwaig improved significantly in the third set by serving more aggressively and committing more bodies to the block, which disrupted Dachau’s rhythm. However, Dachau adjusted in the fourth, using quicker tempo and better court positioning to avoid the block and re-establish control.

Standout performers

Dachau’s opposite hitter delivered a strong all-round performance and was especially effective in the fourth-set finish. The setter also deserves credit for managing the team’s attacking balance after a difficult third set. Schwaig’s libero kept the visitors alive with several excellent defensive plays, while their middle blocker was a threat at the net during the third-set comeback.

Standings impact

The win gives Dachau a welcome boost in the 2. Bundesliga South standings and shows the team’s ability to respond after losing a set. Schwaig will take encouragement from the third-set performance, but the visitors need to find more consistency across four sets. Dachau’s next challenge will be to carry this level of serve-receive and late-set execution into the next round.
