Key Moments

The first set was tied at 20-20 when Waldgirmes won four of the next five points, capped by an ace from their captain. That gave the visitors the momentum. In the second set, Waldgirmes broke away from 10-10 with a 7-2 run, forcing Oythe into a timeout. The third set saw Oythe take a 14-11 lead, their best spell of the match, but Waldgirmes responded immediately with a 6-1 run. From there, the visitors controlled the closing stages and sealed the win on a block.

Tactical Story

Waldgirmes' serving strategy was effective throughout. They targeted Oythe's outside hitters, disrupting the home side's first-ball attack and forcing predictable sets. Waldgirmes' block then went to work, often double-teaming Oythe's leading scorer. Offensively, Waldgirmes used a balanced attack, with their setter involving the middle and right-side attackers to keep Oythe's defense guessing. Oythe's best moments came when they served aggressively, but they could not maintain that pressure for long enough.

Standout Players

The Waldgirmes outside hitter led all scorers with 18 points, including three aces and two blocks. The setter controlled the offense with 35 assists, while the middle blocker contributed five blocks. For Oythe, the opposite hitter battled for 13 points, and the libero made several impressive defensive plays. However, the home side lacked the offensive balance to match Waldgirmes' variety.

League Impact

With this 3-0 victory, Waldgirmes Women collect three important points and strengthen their position in the 2. Bundesliga Pro Women standings. A road win in straight sets is especially valuable in a league where home advantage often plays a role. Oythe Women remain with work to do, but they showed enough fight to suggest better results are possible. The next round will be crucial for both teams as they look to shape their season.
