Emlichheim Women secured an emphatic 3-0 away victory over Dusseldorf Women in the 2. Bundesliga Pro Women on 17 October 2026, winning 25-19, 25-21 and 25-18. The visitors were sharper in every phase and never allowed Dusseldorf to build the kind of momentum that could have changed the direction of the match.

Match overview

Emlichheim started strongly and took the opening set 25-19, setting a clear standard with aggressive serving and disciplined block defence. Dusseldorf improved in the second set and produced a more competitive scoreline, but Emlichheim still had the better answers in the decisive rallies and took it 25-21. The third set followed a similar pattern, with the visitors pulling away late to close the match 25-18.

It was a professional performance from Emlichheim Women, who managed the match calmly and avoided the kind of lapses that can let a home side back into a contest. Dusseldorf Women had spells of good attacking play, but they were too often forced into difficult situations by the visitors’ serve and block.

Key moments

• First set: Emlichheim took control midway through the set and finished it strongly at 25-19, immediately putting the home side under pressure.
• Second set: Dusseldorf stayed closer and had chances to level the match, but Emlichheim won the key sideout points and took the set 25-21.
• Third set: The visitors maintained their advantage and pulled clear in the closing stages, sealing the sweep at 25-18.
• Service pressure: Emlichheim’s ability to keep Dusseldorf out of system proved decisive across all three sets.

Tactical story

Emlichheim’s serve was the standout tactical weapon of the match. By mixing pace and placement, the visitors disrupted Dusseldorf’s reception and limited the home side’s ability to use the middle. That made Dusseldorf’s attack more predictable, allowing Emlichheim’s block to commit earlier and their defence to pick up more second balls.

Dusseldorf’s best moments came when they managed to establish a block of their own and slow down Emlichheim’s transition game. But those moments were not frequent enough. Emlichheim were more consistent in serve receive and more efficient in attack, especially from the wings, where they repeatedly found space against a stretched Dusseldorf defence.

Standout performers

The Emlichheim outside hitters carried a heavy scoring load and stayed efficient under pressure. The visiting libero also had a strong match, stabilising reception and extending rallies with important defensive plays. For Dusseldorf, the captain led by example and the middle blockers produced some encouraging moments at the net, but the home side could not sustain that level over three sets.

What the result means

The straight-sets win gives Emlichheim Women three points and a strong away result in the 2. Bundesliga Pro Women standings. It is the kind of performance that builds confidence, particularly because it came with control rather than a narrow escape. Dusseldorf Women will take some encouragement from a more competitive second set, but the match highlighted the need for greater consistency in reception and sideout. Against a team as organised as Emlichheim, those details proved costly.
